Electronics Engineer, Senior

Key Role:

Support laser weapon system development. Solve challenging problems and support a wide variety of roles, including chief engineer, systems engineer, and chief fire control architect. Understand and contribute to a wide range of technical issues, brief technical subjects to a non-technical audience, and work with a variety of people to help existing laser weapon development programs achieve their goals and to help win new programs. Supports government project leads and provide advice as needed. May include hands-on roles. Be responsible for system design, assisting with detailed design, test planning and execution, trouble-shooting, and technical and program planning to include key inputs for cost estimates, schedules, and technical goals. Understand both system and detailed technical aspects of a program, hardware and software aspects, laser weapon systems, and fire control architectures. Apply advanced consulting skills or extensive technical expertise with knowledge of the state-of-the-art and what is available from industry. Develop innovative solutions to complex problems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience developing laser weapon systems

  • Experience planning and performing system and subsystem level testing

  • Experience designing and building weapon systems, including hardware and software

  • Experience designing weapon controls

  • Experience troubleshooting and solving technical problems in system design and hardware

  • Experience developing proposals and technical descriptions, military gaps the proposed system addresses, schedules and cost estimates through Initial Operational Capability (IOC), risk identification and mitigation strategy, technology descriptions and options, and transition partners

  • Knowledge of weapon control architectures, including combat systems

  • Ability to work well with a variety of people and viewpoints, including colleagues, partners, military operations and requirements personnel, technology developers, stakeholders, clients, and sponsors

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Science

Additional Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience working with U.S. Navy weapon systems or lLser and EO systems

  • 5+ years of experience with Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) electro-optical systems development, analysis, test and evaluation (T&E), and installation

  • 2+ years of experience in the military as a user of weapon systems

  • Experience with the integration of laser systems and major components of a laser system, including the optical train

  • Knowledge of weapon systems from a warfighter perspective

  • Knowledge of practical problems associated with the design, building, integration, and test of laser weapon systems

  • Master's degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Science

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
