The Electronics Design Engineer is responsible for designing and documenting new and innovative electronics for Fisher electric actuators and related products. The Electronics Design Engineer is an integral member of the New Product Development process, spanning product concepting, designing, validating, documenting PCB level electrical designs and pre-production preparedness through operations implementation and product launch. The position encompasses a variety of activities and projects helping to achieve business unit goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design electronic circuitry for use in industrial applications including motor drives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional design and development teams, both inside and outside of the business unit; work with suppliers and manufacturing sites

  • Investigate industry trends and adopt new technology

  • Generate product technical specifications, design and test plans

  • Perform and document engineering design calculations and verification tests

  • Assist in determining timelines and resource requirements for the project

  • Support the long-term vision and management of the business unit's product portfolio

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.

  • Fundamental knowledge of analog and digital electronic components and their application

  • Design, analysis, and optimization of industrial electronics for performance, cost and manufacturability

  • Knowledge of various communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, CAN, RS485, RS232, USB

  • Experience with electrical engineering tools, including Simulation Tools (P-SPICE or LT-SPICE), Oscilloscopes, function generators

  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes

  • Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated organizational skills

  • Motivated self-starter, initiative driven, and ability to deal with ambiguity

  • Design/testing experience for EMC, CE/ATEX, CSA a plus

  • LabVIEW experience a plus

The group is made up of teams responsible for instrument manufacturing, third party approval, product engineering, and testing of the instruments. This individual will be asked to coordinate and prioritize projects within the Engineering Services group in support of the broader Instrument Business Unit goals. Through coordination with product marketing, supply chain, operations and the new product development teams, this person will work to ensure market coverage projects are achieved as well as deliver new products to market with required approvals, meeting expected cost targets and quality metrics.
