Description:As a new Hypersonic Conventional Strike Weapon (HCSW) Component Engineer at Lockheed Martin Space, you'll have an opportunity to create a better world every day and contribute to the critical defense of our country! This new air-launched weapon system will include phases progressing through design, flight test, initial production and deployment.
From guiding Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) selection from design creation to final delivery to assuring effective in-house designs and helping to manage electronic, electrical and electromechanical (EEE) component selection in subcontracts, our Component Engineers routinely work on a broad range of projects, each geared to important human needs. This position is for an EEE Component Engineer. The successful candidate will understand electronic piece part construction and failure modes for active and passive devices.
Responsibilities include: working with Design Engineering, Program Management, and the Customer to select, qualify, test, and perform failure analysis of EEE and mechanical devices/components, review and approve EEE specifications for internal and subcontractor designs; review EEE component data packages to ensure compliance with the Program PMP Control Plan; engage in engineering configuration control, standardization, and reviewing and evaluating EEE components documentation such as procurement specifications and test data; address technical evaluation of manufacturing and electrical component issues/concerns; Point of Contact (POC) with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement in resolving issues; technical evaluation of manufacturing issues/concern; creation/review, coordination and revision of Parts, Materials, and Process (PMP) specifications, generating/reviewing/approving Non-Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs) at Parts, Materials and Process Control Board (PMPCB) meetings, creating/maintaining a Program-Level Approved As-Designed Parts List (ADPMPL), reviewing and approving engineering drawings, participating/leading PMP issue resolutions, and assisting/leading failure analysis under the PMP domain.
Familiarity with or formal coursework in semiconductor physics and/or operation of devices such as hybrids, integrated circuits, transistors, diodes and capacitors.
Good writing, presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
Works well in a team environment.
US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, physics or a related discipline with 2 years of professional experience; or a related Master's degree.
Familiarity with electronics and/ or semiconductor physics and operation of devices such as integrated circuits, transistors, diodes and capacitors is highly desired.
Specific expertise in active and passive EEE components.
Experience evaluating high reliability, commercial, NASA and/or military specification (mil spec) components for use in Aerospace applications.
Ability to multi-task, handle shifting priorities and timeline pressure to meet project deadlines.
Knowledge of engineering specification requirements and interpretations.
Working knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical design, production/manufacturing, materials and processes.
Knowledge of configuration management principles.
