JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Operations and maintenance technician, working under general technical guidance, who specializes in ground-based electronic systems. Works on various types of electronic equipment and related devices by performing a combination of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, construction and testing.
Operates and maintains electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog computers, industrial measuring and controlling equipment, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines, high voltage power supplies and keying circuits, indicators and displays, and antenna positioning systems.
Applies technical knowledge of electronic principles to solve basic problems using diagrams, schematics, engineering data and test equipment.
Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and effects repairs to restore equipment to required operating condition.
Manipulates computer keyboards and views and interprets computer displays.
Troubleshoots to the component level and makes needed repairs.
Assists and/or provides occasional work direction to lower-level technicians.
Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.

Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet.
Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors, is required. Government vehicle is used on an as-needed basis.
Grease or oil may be found on working surfaces. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, at remote locations with occasional overnight assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Travel to remote working locations may be required.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Technician I: Education and/or training in electronics from an accredited college, technical school, or equivalent military training is required.
Basic knowledge of college math, DC and AC electronics, digital logic, solid-state devices, and circuits is required.
Basic understanding of general electronics and familiarity with electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems along with test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment is necessary. Successful candidates will have basic troubleshooting and soldering skills.
Technician II: Education and/or training from an accredited college or technical school with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory or a military equivalent is required.
ISCETcertification may be required. Demonstrated proficiency in general electronics and good understanding of electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems along with test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment is necessary. Experience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devices may be required.
At least three years of hands-on experience is required. Successful candidates will have the demonstrated ability to troubleshoot to the component level and competency in soldering.
Technician III: Associate's degree or higher from an accredited college or technical school with courses in math, basic electronics, and microwave theory or a military equivalent is required.
ISCET certification may be required. Comprehensive knowledge in general electronics and demonstrated expertise in electronic, electro-mechanical, and computer systems along with test equipment used to maintain and repair equipment is necessary. Experience with tubes, transistors, logic gates, and/or high-power RF devices may be required.
At least 7 years of hands-on experience is required. Successful candidates will have expert-level troubleshooting and soldering capabilities.
A Little about Ridgecrest, California
This position is based in Ridgecrest, California, in Kern County in the southern part of the Indian Wells Valley. Residents are attracted to area for its clean air, good water, highway accessibility, easy access to multiple recreational opportunities, and proximity to major Southern California resources in Los Angeles, Bakersfield, and the Antelope Valley.
Ridgecrest is a small, patriotic, family-oriented community, where many of the residents contribute to the vital support of the Navy mission at the nearby China Lake Ranges.
Residents live minutes away from community activities and parks, shopping, and the JT4 office. Community parks cover nearly a hundred acres and include playgrounds, a skateboard park, soccer, softball, baseball, and football fields, basketball, tennis, and racquetball courts. Residents enjoy a variety of community events held throughout the year at local city and county parks and cultural centers.
Surrounded by four mountain ranges, Ridgecrest is a hub of activity for outdoor enthusiasts, where residents regularly take advantage of Ridgecrest's close proximity to all the best California has to offer in outdoor activities at nearby national forests and wilderness areas including Yosemite, Mono Lake, Sequoia, Red Rock and Owens Peak. The sunny California beach is only three hours away.
Ridgecrest is near two major highways, the 395 and 14. The Ontario and Burbank Airports are a little over a two hour drive away. The drive to the Lancaster/Palmdale area is approximately an hour and quarter.
