TIMET is looking for Electronic Technicians

SUMMARY:

Operate and maintain furnaces. Interpret and respond to the needs of the equipment. Perform skilled maintenance, set-up and troubleshooting functions as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Approx 40% of the operators' time will be spent operating the furnace; the balance will be devoted to the application of special skills.

  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, laser and electrical/electronic and optical equipment, including programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, and test equipment.

  • Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.

Set up and operate the furnace as directed for melting to include: Material preparation and loading material, Pumping down furnace, Melting and casting, Unloading ingots, Performing furnace turn-arounds and perform preventative maintenance.

Understand the basic chemistry specifications for common products.

Interpret and control the casting conditions of the furnace as they relate to the product being produced.

Interpret gauges, meters, etc. while operating the VIM furnace.

Clean out furnaces during maintenance cycles and replaces damaged components. Change molds, deskull and patch liner.

Operate leak detectors, pressure controllers, and metal sorting devices.

Use various hand and power tools as directed.

Perform maintenance required to ensure good operating condition of furnace and auxiliary equipment such as vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic and cooling systems.

Correctly uses material handling equipment such as forklifts and hoists.

Perform mechanical skill functions such as flame cut, arc weld, silver solder, and soft solder.

Correctly use such tools as wrenches, drills, grinders, saws, and drill press.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Two year Electronic degree or High School diploma or G.E.D. with 2+ years relevant experience

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and blue prints.

  • Ability to learn new tasks

  • Ability to lift heavy objects

  • MUST be willing to work all 3 shifts and weekends

Support Morgantown operations by maintaining the integrity of furnace controls, power supplies, spare circuit boards, electrical systems, and parts. Essential Functions Interpret equipment symptoms during the troubleshooting process and resolve problems in a timely and professional manner. Use effective troubleshooting techniques to determine the cause of electrical and control system problems Efficiently test and repair electronic/electrical equipment, circuits, and components Perform calibrations and adjustment in accordance with approved standard procedures Functional testing of repaired boards and parts Tag and inventory boards and parts to indicate repair and test status Organize work spare parts and supplies Document repairs, service, calibrations, etc Maintenance of log books documenting maintenance and repair history on individual pieces of equipment (i.e. individual H.V. power supplies Ability to use and maintain standard electronic test equipment that includes: digital multi-meters, VOMs, oscilloscopes, capacitance and inductance meters, meggers, amprobes, vacuum metering, semiconductor testers, etc. Maintain furnace equipment and coordinate repairs with other Electronic Technicians as required Maintenance of electrical/electronic schematics (documenting changes, etc.) Education and Experience * Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required/Associate degree or equivalent experience in Electronics highly preferred * Minimum 3 years of applicable electronic troubleshooting and repair experience * Good understanding of solid-state circuitry and ability to read electrical schematics required. * Strong soldering skills and mechanical aptitude * Good hand-eye coordination * Ability to communicate effectively * Ability to work overtime, weekends and holidays * Ability to lift 35 pounds * Must be able to wear a respirator. * Proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status in order to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations.
