Overview
The Electronic Technician II shall be responsible for installing and testing electronic security system sub-level devices (i.e. cameras, card readers, cabling, patch panels, junction boxes) on large or complex jobs and head end equipment on small or less complex jobs. This technician works under general supervision and requires technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician.
Position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities
Reading and adhering to blueprints and installation design plans for the installation of sub-level devices (i.e. patch panels, junction boxes) on large or complex jobs and head end equipment on small or less complex jobs
Preparing and installing cable pathways & spaces
Identifying appropriate cables from drawings and running cables/fiber per installation design plans
Pulling new security cable to include fence sensor cable, CAT6, security cabling, and fiber optic cabling.
Testing continuity of conductor(s) or breaks in fiber
Terminating basic connections such as butt splices, insulated connectors, terminal strips/blocks and BNC connectors
Mounting and terminating field devices (i.e. Cameras, Readers, Door Contacts, REXs, Cameras)
Installing and Terminating sub-level devices (i.e. patch panels, junction boxes) on large or complex jobs and head end equipment on small or less complex jobs to include power and proper grounding
Reading and understanding component level schematic diagrams for systems, equipment and devices
Troubleshooting and isolating problems at the local level.
Adhering to all Contractor and client policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
A minimum of eight (8) years' experience in non-residential electronics installation and troubleshooting is required with a high school degree and graduation from US Navy or Air Force Electronics Training program with a minimum of 720 class room hours; or a graduate from an accredited Electronic Technician / Electrical apprenticeship program; Or
A minimum of six (6) years' experience with AS in Electronics from an accredited program; Or
A minimum of two (2) years' experience with BS/BA.
Secret Clearance Preferred
Experience installing and troubleshooting electronic security, life safety and telecommunications systems is preferred.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Microsoft Office products
Test Equipment (i.e. multimeter, TDR)
Hand Tools (complete list of required tools will be provided)
Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
OEM Electronic Security System certifications are a plus, but not required for this position.
