The Orange County Convention Center is seeking to hire an Electronic Systems Coordinator within Convention Center Facility Operations Division with Lightng and Sound/ AV experience.

Job Description

General Functions

This position is responsible for coordinating and ensuring that all exhibit halls, concourses, lobbies, meeting room and conference room lighting is programmed per the needs of the show or event. Provides distributed audio system routed from any input in the facility to any output in the facility. Programs and schedules background music (BGM) to concourses, conference rooms, offices, and exterior areas through the use of a satellite service provider. Coordinates and provides distributed RF system used to provide Cable TV (CATV) and video back-feed services throughout the facility.

Coordinates and/or performs technical work based on area of assignment to include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, operation and module and component level repair of all Convention Center electronic show support systems. This includes but is not limited to acoustics, electronic signal transmission protocol in both analog and digital domain, control software relating to VFDs, BADs, audio & lighting systems at program level, HVAC electronic/pneumatic systems, various components of the Convention Center's life safety system. This position requires in-depth knowledge based on area of assignment, full knowledge of module and component level repair and diagnostic techniques for all electronic systems. Provides instruction on system operation and maintenance procedures to other Convention Center staff.

Technical Services Electronic Systems Coordinator

This position assists the Technical Services Supervisor with supervising the maintenance, repair and service work of the Audio, Lighting, Distributive Television and Electronic Sign systems. Monitors Audio, Lighting, Distributive Television and Electronic Sign Systems related to capital improvement projects. In addition, assists with the management of overall administrative functions related to Technical Services including but not limited to correspondence, complaints and personnel matters.

Based on area of assignment:

  • Oversees various components of the Convention Center's electronic systems and provides leadership (guidance) to staff assigned to maintain and monitor systems.

  • Ensures compliance with specific regulations related to inspection and maintenance of systems.

  • Specifies equipment to be purchased for interface to existing systems installs for new and reconditioned equipment into building lighting, audio, HVAC and life safety systems to ensure compatibility.

  • Troubleshoots system defects and anomalies.

  • Fabricates devices to interface obsolete current and future technologies to the existing building systems.

  • Handles day-to-day issues associated with electronic systems.

  • Coordinates with building clients and in-house Event Coordinators to resolve client equipment interface issues and maintain systems to ensure minimum failure and negative impact on client.

  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.

  • Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Technical Services Electronic Systems Coordinator:

Associate of Science degree from an accredited institution in Electronics or Computer Science and five (5) years of experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: Computer based Building Control Systems, database creation and configuration, graphic software, electronic controls, programmable controllers, 4-20 ma control circuits, rectifiers, 12-480v, three-phase circuits, control software specific to computer based control systems. Additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Experience in maintaining job site documentation (example, time sheets, as-built drawings).

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities.

Proficient in use and application of personal computers including Microsoft Office Suite.

Must be able to work irregular shifts as required.

Salary Information

Pay Grade: 016 -- From $ 25.40 to $33.02

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
