The AvionX team is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Electronic Engineering Design Manager to lead a distributed group of engineers focused on Avionics Design for Boeing AvionX products. This team develops electronic design solutions for Mission Computing, Manned Space, and Electrical Power Systems products. These products are used in many Boeing products such as Bombers, Fighters, Space Vehicles, Commercial Aircraft. This position manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at our

Huntsville, Alabama site.

Position responsibilities:

  • Facilitates cross-organizational staffing support

  • Works with a global team to develop low-cost avionics design solutions

  • Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives

  • Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements

  • Implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved

  • Assigns authority and responsibility to employees and managers to execute the plan

  • Operates in close partnership with other engineering teams and project teams

  • Interacts directly with program management on multiple programs to provide status on programs and projects

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

  • Oversees development of people, processes, tools, and training required; establishes metrics for safety, first time quality, productivity, and affordability

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes; manages, develops and motivates employees

  • Uses metrics to drive continuous measurable improvements

  • Forecasts resource needs and obtain and manage personnel to meet project and daily operating requirements

  • Ensures work group products or processes meet customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements

  • Provides approval of work group technical approaches, products and processes

  • Supports new business activities providing input and data to proposals based on actual costs incurred on past projects

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree

  • 10+ years of experience in management or relevant leadership experience

  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing cross-functional or cross-organizational teams within engineering and/or test

  • Experience being responsible for developing project or operational plans

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 15+ years with electrical engineering experience

  • 5+ years aerospace experience

  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting

  • Experience with integrating global teams

  • Experience with MIL-STDs for Electronics Design

  • Experience with DO-254

  • Experience communicating with senior managers and executives, customers (internal and external), business partners / suppliers / subcontractors, and government representatives

  • Experience effectively communicating and influencing decision-making by internal and external management and senior level representatives

  • Experience translating complex issues into cohesive, actionable components and communicating at an executive level

  • Strong natural leadership style that moves people to act, motivates and inspires excellence and innovation

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $160,650 - $217,350
