Under the direct supervision of an END Tech II, the END Tech I assists in performing specialized electroencephalographic (EEG) procedures, including test set up, electrode application, and ensuring patient safety during clinically significant events, and other related duties associated with neurodiagnostic procedures. The END Tech I is an entry level position to train and support the EEG unit. This position will work towards becoming registry eligible, and registered in electroencephalography in preparation for the END Tech II position.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively with the patient and explains test procedures.

  • Sets up and calibrates necessary equipment.

  • Reviews records and interviews patients to obtain additional information.

  • Operates various non-invasive monitoring devices.

  • Records observations and analyzes test data to ensure appropriate data is collected.

  • Assists END Tech II's in advanced procedures for epilepsy, wada, depths, electrocerebral silence (ECS) and evoked potential (EP).

  • Maintains lab equipment, ensures room is clean, institutes quality control procedures.

  • Ensures labs are properly stocked and supplies ordered.

  • Maintains patients safety through communication to other patient care staff.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.

  • Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

  • Ability to assimilate data from various sources.

  • Ability to display active listening and verbalize empathy.

  • Ability to quickly learn new procedures and process.

  • Ability to develop relationships with patients, guest and coworkers.

  • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations to insure patient information is guarded and respected.

Qualifications Qualifications Required

  • One year of experience working in a patient care environment.
  • EEG registry eligible within 24 months of hire.
  • EEG registry completed within 36 months of hire.

Licenses Required

  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.

  • Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department. Qualifications (Preferred) Preferred

  • Associate's degree, or enrolled in CAAHEP accredited Electroneurodiagnostic Program.

  • This position involves intermediate working conditions in a healthcare setting that may exert up to 50 pounds and may consistently require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving patients or objects, such as medical equipment, while providing patient care.

VIEW JOBS 4/16/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-15T00:00 Job Description: We are looking for a full-time ASCP licensed Clinical Lab Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technologist to join our Salt Lake City Reference Lab. This position will perform basic and guided advanced donor and patient tests and interpret results to determine donor-recipient compatibility; Resolve compatibility problems; provide intermediate reference and consultation services to hospitals and transfusion services. Perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples; Perform advanced manufacturing and processing procedures, as applicable; Adhere to explicit standard operating procedures and interpret test results in accordance with the applicable regulatory requirements. Responsibilities 1. Consult and communicate with staff at other medical facilities, to resolve serologic problems and provide special units to transfusion recipients. 2. Manage receipt, coordination, shipment and transport of patient and donor blood samples. 3. Manage reagent inventory including ordering, receiving, inspecting and preparing reagents. 4. Perform and interpret independent basic and complex donor and/or patient testing procedures and complete required quality control, as appropriate to state and federal regulations. Recognize testing irregularities, identify the cause, determine the solution and resolve the problem or refers it to the appropriate level. 5. Perform inventory management, coordination and shipment duties associated with donor product inventory including the maintence of the exceptional and rare donor products. 6. Perform labeling and verification of blood products. 7. May perform manufacturing duties associated with special blood products, if applicable. 8. Perform maintence, repair and validation of laboratory equipment and software maintenance. 9. May perform duties associated with document development management. 10. Maintain, edit and review computer and manual records to assure accurate record keeping. Maintain accurate, legible and complete records. 11. Adhere to procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMP). 12. May perform internal staff training and/or competency reviews, if applicable. May perform external customer education. 13. May assume lead responsibilities such as record review and training. 14. Perform other related duties as necessary.
