Location Profile:

Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical requirements including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and aircraft engine shaft and spindle applications. Operations at the Irvine location include CNC Machining, CNC Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.

Position Summary:

The Electromechanical Technician is responsible for repairing and upgrading production equipment effectible.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the repair and maintenance of production equipment.

  • Provides input into the selection of production equipment.

  • Oversees the installation and start-up of new equipment.

  • Diagnose equipment problems using error codes, symptoms and diagnostic equipment.

  • Provide for the repair of equipment through specifying and ordering parts, arranging for outside service, installation of repair parts and follow up to ensure that the repairs were effective.

  • Evaluate, design and install upgrades to equipment.

  • Provide routine specialized preventive maintenance of equipment.

  • Stays current with machine technologies used at Shur-lok.

  • Direct the activities of helpers.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Must have at least five years of experience as a facility maintenance mechanic. 1 to 2 years of related experience repairing CNC machines.

  • Must have experience in the repair and maintenance of metal cutting machines.

  • Familiarization with circuit diagrams, engineering drawings and service manuals.

  • Able to use specialized equipment such PLC software and volt meters.

  • Strong mechanical ability to disassemble and reassemble complex mechanical systems and devices.

  • Familiar with the repair of CNC machines produced by Mazak, Hardinge and/or Miyano.

  • Mathematical Skill Demonstrate the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

  • Blueprint Reading & Interpretation Demonstrate the ability to reliably read and interpret the following: drawing terms; call outs; symbols and/or descriptions; types of lines; front view; side view; top view; section view; types of radii; tolerances (min. and max.); external/internal thread; surface finish; fastener-related specifications.

  • Workmanship Ability to identify and take appropriate action to prevent, correct, or reject the following conditions on die and tools parts: cracks; nicks, scratches and dents.

  • Communication Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with team members to achieve cooperation and assistance needed to resolve problems and attain maximum productivity.

Desired Skills:

  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals as well to write routine data on routers.

  • Ability to provide training functions to co-workers as required.

  • Knowledge of shop practices and procedures.


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Technical school education with specializing in electronics, servo-machines, machine design, etc.

This dichotomy provides a continuous challenge to our engineering team to employ new technology and methodologies in the development of our complex systems. We are looking for a Systems Engineer to take on design and sustaining responsibilities in the development of pilot control systems, throttle control systems, large actuators, and related flight control products for the next generation of business, regional, military, and air-transport aircraft. The Systems Engineer is a subject matter expert that drives changes and implements solutions as a participant on a multi-disciplined team. The ideal candidate shall be experienced in system integration, software integration, and have performed complex test activities. Strong architecture and systems engineering knowledge throughout the complete system life cycle is a prerequisite. Systems engineering duties will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and requirements capture through manufacture, system testing, and field support. While working in a cross-functional team environment, daily tasks will include: * ●Requirements development and management, * ●Mechanical design, analysis, troubleshooting, and review, * ●Budget and schedule management, * ●Test/verification planning, development, and execution, * ●Customer interface, coordination, and communication, and * ●Coordination with manufacturing operations. Qualifications: The selected candidate must be motivated to learn at a fast pace, have strong written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work autonomously or in a highly interactive team environment. Knowledge/experience in the area of feedback control systems, integrated system/interface design, aerospace development process, electro-mechanical systems or aerospace mechanical systems is desirable, but not required. The ideal candidate will have experience with CAD design software, Matlab/Simulink, and a lab environment. Education: Minimum Degree: Bachelors' of Science in an Engineering Discipline such as Mechanical Engineering, Aero Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant engineering/physics/science discipline.
