Are you a hands-on and experienced electromechanical technician keen on contributing to the development of exciting new industrial products for marking and bar code printing applications?

In this role you'll build experimental setups for testing of high-speed electromechanical assemblies .

You'll have the opportunity to be a vital contributor to the development of new laser engraving and inkjet printing products and work in a new group of talented engineers within a well-established multinational company.

You should possess at minimum, an associate's degree and 2-3 years of professional experience.

Principal Activities/Duties/

  • Conduct testing of mechanical, electrical, and optical components, subsystems and systems.

  • Document experimental conditions and test results

  • Build simple prototypes and test fixtures; interface with external vendors for complex parts

  • Inspect incoming parts

  • Manage lab and lab equipment, including calibration

  • Effectively interact with other members of the technical team to create a safe, fun, and productive work environment

Required Skills:

  • Experience with at least one data acquisition system.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics.

  • Attention to details.

  • Eagerness to learn new skills and new tools

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team oriented environment

  • Must be organized and able to multi-task

  • Experience with Microsoft office

  • Results oriented, self starter with the ability to work with minimal direction

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience reworking PCBs, solder to add or remove components

  • Simple mechanical machining skills

  • Some 3D mechanical CAD experience

  • Programming of motor drives

Markem-Imaje Watertown, MA, is an exciting expansion demonstrating our commitment to be the innovation leader in digital printing. This new, state-of-the-art, Global Design Center will be the hub for New Product Introduction of Laser- and DOD-based products. The office is situated close to Boston with easy access by car or public transportation.

The Engineer will use their detailed understanding of the materials, and production methods to work with the Hardware Engineering Team as an active part of the product development. Essential Job Functions * Participate as a primary chassis designer for instrumentation * Integrate new technologies into product architectures as solutions to providing requested product functions * Innovate new product features based on ability to transform technical possibilities into practical realities * May have architectural oversight on product development * Develop detailed design specifications * Work with hardware engineers to refine connector requirements between different assemblies * Develop assembly drawings for components as part of the larger system * Develop schedules for their work * Participate as a team member on development projects * Manage several development projects at a time * Provide project updates to project management * Participate in regularly scheduled and adhoc project team meetings * Follow proper processes for developing and maintaining assembly libraries * Identify potential options to designs when appropriate * Identify any potential product risks to the product project team and/or project management Qualifications EDUCATION: * Bachelor's Degree Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * 5-8 years of direct experience in the field * Experience working with Solidworks Additional equivalent education above the required minimum may substitute for the required level of experience. OTHER HELPFUL EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE: * Experience developing test and measurement equipment is a plus * Experience working with electric utilities a plus * Experience working with Solidworks 3D Design Software is a plus KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: * Must have excellent writing and oral communications skills and high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. * Ability to independently plan and organize one's own activities. * Must thrive in a deadline-driven, fast-paced team environment.
