Job Description:

Position Overview

Extents of mechanical and electrical design expertise to include sheet metal cabinet structures, structural steel weldments to support cabinet structures, glastic composite element structures, control panels, electrical control systems, and electronic packaging. Project(s) will be led by Engineer(s) from the group beginning with conceptual design, continuing through qualified design including 3D models and documentation, and finally system prototyping and test. The daily work environment takes place inside the global technology Research and Development center. This position can support operations on a very small scale, however the successful candidate will need to have a dominate design centric background.

Responsibilities

  • Strong aptitude toward electrical/mechanical design and drafting with ability to read and develop schematics and drawings.

  • Design semi-complex electrical control systems for VFD (Variable Frequency Drives Medium Voltage) on time, driven by specifications, and within project budget.

  • Design basic sheet metal cabinetry for VFD (Variable Frequency Drives Medium Voltage) on time, driven by specifications, and within project budget.

  • Develop structural weldment drawing for sheet metal fabricator/vendor.

  • Develop production and customer approval drawings using NX software. Documentation packages can include Bills of Material, System Assemblies, Sub-level Assemblies, Outlines, Multiview drawings, Schematics, and even wire harnesses.

  • Basic knowledge of compliance standards like IEC, IEEE, and UL/CSA.

  • Maintain new and revised product drawing files according to ISO procedures and standards.

  • Examine, prepare and verify technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems, to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.

  • Work independently using written feedback, general standards, and guidelines, without excessive reliance on redlines or specific, per-drawing direction.

  • Basic understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturability).

  • Prepare and communicate specifications for purchase of materials and equipment/tooling when necessary, during prototype phase.

  • Siemens will expect the successful candidate to take on an "ownership culture" work ethic.

  • Other duties relating to CAD as required by the Design/Drafting Manager.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • BS in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology or associate degree with 2-5 years of applicable experience.

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in VFD industry extremely preferred.

  • Proficient in NX software is strongly desired.

  • Proficient in Team Center PLM software desired and very beneficial.

  • Solid understanding of mechanical design and a working knowledge of electrical and control design.

VIEW JOBS 1/16/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-16T00:00 Job Description * The mechanical process engineer will report to the Central Engineering Manager and provide dedicated engineering support to rolling mill operations and processes at the Arconic Technology Center. * The incumbent will also provide mechanical engineering support on projects and operations support at the facility as needed. * Key accounatbilities: Technical expert on equipment function and operation, participate in pre-run meetings, evaluation of equipment performance based on data and product output, lead troubleshooting, provide and execute solutions, devise and coordiante PM activities, project leadership and engineering expertise for operation support activities, continual improvement and capital projects. Attending ATC Micromill pre-cast and Fleximill pre-run meetings to align on parameters and materials and participate in the safe operation of the line during the cast. * Utilizing expert knowledge of rolling mill equipment to work with operartors and researchers in understanding the necessary operating parameters and requirements based on associated materials. * Devise and ensure daily pre and post run checklists are completed in evaluating the state of the equipment. * Devise and ensure preventative maintenance plans are in place and executed in timely manner working with operators and area supervisers to schedule downtime and maintenance on PM execution. * Devise, recommend and implement spare parts lists for each piece or equipment/processes. * Lead troubleshooting utilizing output data and qualitative review of products,recommend and execute solutions to operational issues. * Facilitate FMEA's and drive resulting actions. * Provide project leadership utilizing project methodology (charter, scope, specification, change management, estimating, and schedule) in completing continual improvement and capital projects. * Collaborate with operators and researchers to devise and write specficiations for new equipment, upgrades and process improvments. * Collaboration with other Engineering and Design resources on project planning and execution. * Review all SWI's and establish expert knowledge of operations and participate in continual improvement. * Work closely with Quality and EHS groups to ensure process changes are managed and meet Quality and EHS expectations. * Communicate regularly with Central Engineering Manager, Operators, and Area Supervisors on status of operational support tasks and projects. * Draft status updates and proposals and communicate to Management. Devise scope of work and direct maintenance personnel and or contractors to safely execute work. Preferred Qualifications: * PMP Certification or equivalent project management experience. * Lean Sigma Certification or equivalent expereince. * PE License. Qualifications BS in Mechanical Engineering 5 years of experience working as a process engineer with rolling mill equipment and processes Must have experience working in a manufacturing setting Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
