The Otis Service Center's Assembly Department is looking for 1st shift Electro-Mechanical Assemblers. The position requires assembling parts and sub-assemblies through a variety of electro/mechanical tasks and duties to achieve maximum cell efficiency. Candidate must be a team player committed to continuous improvement with demonstrated skills and abilities in mechanical dexterity, assembly manufacturing, material handling, soldering, wiring and ability to comprehend basic prints and wiring diagrams.

Physical Demand

Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment

Education

Candidate must have a High School diploma or equivalent

Experience/Qualifications

Must follow all EH&S and safety policies and procedures. Must be able to adhere to assigned work schedule, including start time and annual inventory. Ability to participate in annual physical inventory.

Candidate should have knowledge and understanding of electronic assembly. Actual assembly and wiring experience is a plus. A certificate from a trade school is preferred.

The individual should possess a positive attitude with the ability to work independently, read and interpret drawings, prints, and wiring schematics. The individual must have good interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates should be able to accommodate changes in production and work schedules in order to meet deadlines. An electrical background is desirable.

The individual's primary focus will be passenger interface components, commonly referred to as fixtures, in addition to project design and testing. Candidate will have responsibility for organizing, maintaining and creating Spare Parts Leaflets as they relate to these component areas. Other significant parts of the assignment include inspection, analysis, design and testing of related components and writing the Technical Information Publications and the field processes behind their implementation. Duties will include developing engineering solutions to replacement of obsolete components as well as newly defined needs from sketches, concepts and verbal instructions developed interactively with group members and others. On-site elevator hoistway and machine room surveying may be required. Some on site trial testing of service replacement designs will be required. Occasional travel can be expected. Position provides an opportunity to develop knowledge of other elevator component areas. Education: * BS in Mechanical Engineering is required Experience/Qualifications: * Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal skills, and excellent analytical skills are a must. * The ability to work as both an individual contributor and in a team environment and to manage multiple projects concurrently is needed. * It is preferred that the ideal candidate have a good working knowledge of mechanical systems and a basic understanding of electrical principles as they apply to the elevator industry, and excellent practical, mechanical hands-on & design skills. * Proficiency in PTC Creo and AutoCAD preferred, and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required. * Detailed knowledge of Otis design/drafting practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerance setting, materials, and processes is preferred. * Knowledge of design for assembly and manufacturing is also preferred. * Any practical experience with additive manufacturing would be a bonus.
