The Electro Optical (EO) Sector Senior Manager, Engineering Operations, is responsible for providing the leadership of the engineering operations for the EO Sector ($1.2B) of L3Harris. In this role, the Engineering Operations Leader works across our businesses and engineering disciplines to efficiently lead the organization's battle rhythm for Internal Research and Development (IRAD) processes, continuous improvement strategies, and enablers for engineering excellence. This includes responsibility for the capture and analysis of engineering metrics and improvement plans based on those measurements. This successful Engineering Operations Leader will leverage industry and company best practices and synergies across our sector and segment to raise the bar of overall performance. The Engineering Operations Leader will lead engineering continuous improvement through L3Harris' operational excellence program (E3 - excellence, everywhere, everyday). This role reports directly to the Sr. Director of EO Sector Engineering and interfaces directly with the Segment Engineering Operations group.
Develop roadmap for Engineering Strategic initiatives, aligning the EO Sector's Engineering goals with broader sector and segment strategic plans.
Establish, measure and hold teams accountable for organizational goals and objectives.
Develop, improve and deploy the E3 Engineering framework including the toolkit for Value Engineering, DFx, COPQ (Cost of poor quality), process improvement and other tools to help drive continuous improvement activities within the EO Engineering organization in collaboration with the EO Operations organization.
Lead the implementation and ongoing use of engineering metrics and the reporting cadence to ensure accurate performance tracking, leveraging analytics and predictive indicators to drive continuous improvement, corrective and preventative actions.
Lead the planning, reporting and review processes for the EO Sector Internal Research and Development (IRAD) program.
Develop, improve, and deploy staffing processes and tools that enables effective sharing of engineers across divisions.
Establish and embed the engineering cadence and supporting mechanics to ensure effective and efficient processes that deliver and monitor Engineering activities.
Collaborate with peers across L3Harris Sectors to partner on initiatives and leverage capability across the organization.
Collaborate with Division Engineering leaders and Engineering Steering Teams in order to deliver Sector results
Lead initiatives to build a sector "collective know-how" to enable effective sharing of information and lessons learned.
Stay abreast of new approaches and issues in the industry, including current lean approaches, platforms, standards, and methodologies; develop and implement strategies to meet emerging technology trends
Continuously develop leadership and collaborative team building.
Build solid succession plans for leadership and key technical roles.
Bachelors degree in relevant engineering discipline, Master's degree preferred
10+ years experience working with large multi-site functional teams in the engineering discipline with demonstrated success in managing remote populations
Strong understanding of leading the development and deployment of continuous improvement programs
Strong presentation development and communication skills at all levels - with executives, teams, and individual contributors. Ability to prepare organization-wide messaging
Experience working with budgets and financial data
Confident leader with demonstrated ability to lead by influence
Experience in Aerospace and Defense
