Facilities Maintenance Technician

Position Title: Facilities Maintenance Technician

Department: Facilities Management

Position Summary: The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to maintain and repair building structures and systems. This role focuses on building repairs, painting, restoring cabling, and cleaning up legacy equipment. Additional duties include general housekeeping, lighting repair, and installation and lawn maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Building Repairs:

• Conduct routine inspections and perform maintenance on building structures including walls, floors, and ceilings.

• Repair and replace defective building components such as doors, windows, and fixtures.

• Painting and Equipment:

• Prepare surfaces and apply paint, varnish, or other finishes to equipment, walls, ceilings, and other structures.

• Maintain painting tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.

• Cabling and Legacy Equipment:

• Restore and organize cabling, ensuring it is properly labeled and secured.

• Clean up and dispose of obsolete or non-functional legacy equipment according to company policies and regulations.

• General Housekeeping:

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all areas within the facilities.

• Ensure that walkways, common areas, and workspaces are free from hazards and clutter.

• Lighting Repair and Installation:

• Replace and install lighting fixtures, bulbs, and ballasts.

• Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems related to lighting.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in a related field is preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years experience in facilities maintenance or a related role.

• Skills:

• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.

• Knowledge of building systems and repair techniques.

• Basic understanding of electrical and lighting systems.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

• Abilities:

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in various positions (standing, kneeling, climbing).

Work Environment:

• Work is performed both indoors and outdoors.

• Exposure to varying weather conditions and environments.

• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Additional Information:

• Position may require occasional overtime and availability for emergency repairs outside of regular working hours.

• Must comply with company safety policies and procedures.
