Main Job Responsibilities:

  • The EMT Performs routine preventative and corrective maintenance and testing on equipment.

  • Perform maintenance tasks to include - repairing and improving, from minor rebuilds to major overhauls on all equipment.

  • Identify processing waste reduction opportunities and assist in reduction projects.

  • Participate in preventative maintenance program to help reduce costs of operations through PM optimization.

  • Dismantles, cleans, repairs and tests electrical, electronic and mechanical components to determine component-level failure

  • Support equipment installations, retrofits and upgrades to include vendors and contractors

  • Communicate, coach and train employees to continuously improve team's ability to respond to equipment failures and loss of production.

  • Actively coach, teach, and assess to support the progression of associates at various levels of technical operation and the overall progression of TPM in the factory.

  • Actively support NCE through SLC DOR, DER, GSTD's

  • DMAIC projects and Debriefs or shift handoffs & taking a structured methodical approach to supporting loss elimination and line improvement activities.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance logs and accurate records of all testing and repairs

  • Recommends equipment to be included in preventive maintenance programs. Perform Preventative Maintenance task to identify all potential mechanical and electrical issues with equipment throughout the plant. Rebuild worn-out, but reusable, pieces of equipment, such as gearboxes for scheduled PM's.

  • Troubleshoot/ investigate and repair all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and utility systems including chillers, air compressors etc. Eliminates problems from recurring utilizing the Breakdown Analysis process

  • Communicates directly with equipment suppliers, contractors and vendors as necessary

  • Areas of responsibility will include but are not limited to

  • Production support

  • Mechanical Room- Water Processing

  • Boiler Room

  • Waste Water Treatment- Water Chemical Treatment Program

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Three or more years proven maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Prior experience with high and low pressure compressors, chillers, water treatment, boilers is preferred

  • Strong technical knowledge of compressed air systems (pneumatics), electrical systems, hydraulics and water processing is preferred

  • Knowledge of bottling equipment, PM programs and SAP system preferred

  • Successfully demonstrates strong mechanical abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with all employees.

  • Must have electrical knowledge of single and three phase power distribution including the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electric motor controls

  • Thorough understanding of mechanical room systems, water process systems, waste water system

  • Thorough understanding of electrical schematics relating to machine centers

  • Thorough understanding of multimeter and megger use for troubleshooting electrical circuits

  • Working knowledge of PLC function for troubleshooting

  • Must be able to work and accomplish projects with little to zero supervision

  • Must be able to foster and build a team-work environment

  • Communicate effectively with various support groups, supervisors, and team members

  • Maintain a high level of professional and organizational ethics and image with all plant and outside personnel

  • Able to read, interpret and analyze computer generated reports

  • Perform all tasks with extreme accuracy

  • Must be able to do physical inspections, (i.e. climbing, reaching, extending)

  • Must be proficient with mechanical drawings and OEM technical prints for parts identification

  • Proficient computer navigation skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications

  • Available for call-ins or to cover all shifts to support production teams as required

  • Works together with Safety department to achieve a zero injury workplace

  • Must display a positive mental attitude and be open to a fast paced ever changing work environment

  • Must not have had either performance, attendance or safety infraction within last 12 months

This National Guard position is for a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D2431000 and is part of the ME 101st Logistics Readiness Squadron, National Guard. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities This position is located in the Air National Guard, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Vehicle Management Flight. Its purpose is to maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, modify, and inspect heavy mobile equipment, various support equipment, and special purpose vehicles such as; fuel dispensing trucks, refueling equipment, crash/structural firefighting equipment and pump trucks, forklifts, materiel handling, aircraft cargo loaders, aircraft and equipment tow tractors, large runway snow removal vehicles, aircraft de-icing equipment, sweepers, bulldozers, mobile cranes, road graders, heavy construction and earth moving vehicles, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, trenchers, and tactical/armored protected vehicles. The equipment may be commercial or military designed with diesel, gasoline, electric, hybrid electric, or other alternative fuel power and may have multiple engines. The work requires knowledge of how heavy duty machinery, engines, parts, and systems work; ability to detect faulty items, determine causes of malfunction, and determine best repair methods; and skill to assemble, disassemble, repair, rebuild or modify components and a variety of interconnected systems. Repairs include; integrated electrical, electronics, air, fuel, and hydraulic systems; complex state-of-the-art electrical and electronic systems requiring specialized scan/diagnostic equipment to identify malfunctions or to determine replacement of standard and computer controlled components. MAJOR DUTIES: 1. Repairs, adjust, overhauls, performs major repairs, and maintenance on military and commercial designed heavy mobile equipment and special purpose vehicles. Inspects repairs, overhauls and tests major systems including gasoline, diesel, electric powered hybrid, multi-fuel, turbine, and other types of internal combustion engines, which may be turbo-charged or blower assisted, automatic or manual transmissions, including those with power take offs, cross-drive transmissions, hydraulic, electric, pneumatic systems and controls, fluid pumping systems, turrets, winches and four wheel steering systems. Systematically analyzes malfunctions and the cause of mechanical failure by means of visual and auditory checks, uses computer-controlled test equipment, engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges in order to determine the exact nature of extent of repairs or adjustments necessary to complete work. Use specialized diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot problems in complex state-of-the-art electric and electronic systems to identify and replace defective components such as computer control modules, sensors, solenoids, digitized components, and circuits. Develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines. Modify parts to fit, or improvises modifications to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions. Makes design modifications to meet special requirements, make adjustment or performs tests. Removes, disassembles overhauls, modifies, adjusts, and repairs, engines, transmissions, or sub-assemblies in accordance with the proper procedures and specifications. Reassembles engines, transmissions, and sub-assemblies, makes adjustments, tests and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment. Determines serviceability by operational driving test. (45%) 2. Performs body repair and corrosion control, refinishes and repaints surfaces as required. Repairs and/or replaces body parts, locks, glass, etc. and determines if additional repairs are required. Repairs may be accomplished by using welding equipment, power tools, hand tools and other specialized equipment. Cleans, tests, and repairs radiators/oil coolers and associated parts. Test, services, and repairs vehicle air conditioning systems following manufacturers and environmental guidelines. Replaces or repairs tires, tubes and balances wheel assemblies. (15%) 3. Prepares, maintains and submits applicable maintenance work orders for man-hour and data collection accounting, to include completing forms to reflect work performed or delayed and parts and maintenance required.
