Overview of Position

The Electro-Mechanical Technician II is responsible for maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment in standard and non-standard conditions to minimize equipment downtime, increase product yield, and optimize machine reliability while meeting Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality requirements. This role will require daily execution and documentation of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, changeovers, and spare parts management and is expected to carry out duties independently. Electro-Mechanical Technician II may participate in small to medium scale projects to support the install, implementation, and commissioning of new equipment or components.

II. Job Responsibilities

• Performs advanced troubleshooting on blending and high-speed packaging manufacturing lines in standard and non-standard conditions, which includes mechanical and electrical manufacturing equipment such as conveyors, end-of-arm robots, automated material handlers, motors, pumps, variable frequency drives, x-rays, thermal sealers, carton erectors, PLCs/HMIs, and scales.

• Executes and documents preventative and corrective maintenance. Offers suggestions for improvements to preventative maintenance.

• Executes product changeovers.

• Self-starter to execute maintenance work orders.

• May spearhead the development of Standard Operating Procedures or Work Instructions.

• Utilize CMMS to document maintenance work orders and spare parts consumed for a job.

• Ensure food safety, product quality, and plant EHS guidelines are met as specified by federal, state, local authorities including OSHA, HAACP, GMP, plant specific and company guidelines.

• Participate in continuous improvement by providing suggestions towards improving operational efficiency, EHS, and/or quality.

• Participate in small to medium scale projects to support the install, implementation, and commissioning of new equipment or components.

• Provides or enters metrics and technical details in Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Daily Accountability Board.

• Executes training and skills assessments for junior Electro-Mechanical Technicians

• Collaborate and coordinate with other departments to ensure maintenance team complies with maintenance and operational schedules.

IV. Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

• Minimum 5-10 years' experience in manufacturing maintenance or equivalent on mechanical and electrical equipment, preferably in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacturing environment

• Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, bill of materials, and manuals.

• Knowledge of equipment maintenance practices and terminology.

• Has an intermediate understanding of utility equipment such as air compressors, dust collectors, HVAC, and electrical power distribution.

• Familiarity with hand tools and machine shop equipment

• Intermediate math and measurement skills required.

• Familiarity with EHS and quality regulations.

• Intermediate computer skills. Proficiency in using a computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is required.

• Customer service oriented to serve internal customers and work with external contractors.

• Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

• Able to work well independently and as a team.

• Strong English verbal and written communication to share technical details to peers and stakeholders. Able to tailor communication to different audiences.

• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position including standing on feet for long periods of time while evaluating job tasks, completing audits and teaching maintenance skills.

• Able to meet the physical requirements of the position requiring heavy lifting up to 50lbs, carrying tools and supplies, kneeling, and stooping and standing on feet for long periods of time.

• Developing a specialization in a trade or has a technical Degree, licenses, or certifications in Industrial Maintenance, Electrician, Machinist, or Welder.

• Valid driver's license and maintenance of minimum insurance requirements as mandated by the state is required.
