JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of Production Manager/Supervisor, responsible for plant mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance, repairs, adjustments, installation, modification, operation of plant production and facility equipment.

Must be capable, with minimal supervision, of responding to and diagnosing equipment malfunctions and breakdowns, make required adjustments and repairs, and/or coordination of adjustments. Must understand and follow all NFPA and OSHA safe electrical work practices. Must complete written reports as required and provide production line support at all times.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Working from engineering drawings, schematics, or verbal instruction, will install, repair, and modify Plant equipment, including motors, power and control devices and wiring, switchgears, lighting, and all types of mechanical parts and devices, etc. Performs all duties within applicable codes and regulations.

  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, reports on and corrects electrical equipment and system malfunctions.

  • Performs preventive maintenance and reports accomplished PM duties to supervisors.

  • Performs adjustments, size changeovers, set-ups, calibrations, etc., on all Plant equipment.

  • Operates equipment and provides break relief/support as required or instructed.

  • Overhaul electrical equipment including magnetic starters, relays, bearings, seals, etc., with minimal supervision, in order to maintain safe and efficient operation of equipment.

  • Fabricates, assembles, and installs parts and equipment utilizing various hand or power tools. Must be capable of operating tools such as grinders, sheet metal shears/brake, drill press, saw, welders, etc.

  • Understand and communicate all Plant electrical power systems including transformers, breaker panels, MCC systems, etc. Work with Electrical Engineer to troubleshoot and/or upgrade electrical systems.

  • Assists in training of maintenance and electrical staff and machine operators in all capacities as requested.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Participate in Focused Improvement and Continuous Improvement projects.

  • Assists with the identification of required spare parts and maintains inventories.

  • Operates forklift and ensures materials necessary to perform job efficiently and safely are available.

  • Operates CIP systems and cleaning equipment to maintain sanitary Facility and Shop environment.

  • Other duties as assigned throughout the facility.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Electrician certification preferred, and high mechanical ability and aptitude.

  • Strong problem-solving ability with successful experience in a team building environment.

  • Trouble shooting expertise in a manufacturing environment

  • Experienced with computer and PLC usage/troubleshooting/operations.

  • High level competency in maintenance procedures, parts, and production equipment.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English, pass paid physical, move up to 50 lbs/70 lbs. occasionally.

  • Must complete orientation /probation period, demonstrating consistent quality work performance.

  • Ability and willingness to work any shift.
