We are partnering with Amazon and looking for an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician to work with automated packaging and distribution equipment at our San Marcos, TX location.

Duties include:

  • Utilizes working knowledge and experience in the areas of VFD' s, Motors, Wiring configurations, PLC' s, Computers, Electrical Schematics, Control Circuits , Electrical Distribution Systems and Preventive / Predictive maintenance .
  • Mechanical expertise, to include, but not limited to, Precision Alignment, Rigging, Tensioning fasteners & belts, Lubrication, Lacing & tracking of belt systems, Mechanical drawings, and Preventive/Predictive maintenance.
  • Assist in formulating standards / work procedures while performing those duties and provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery.
  • Assigned tasks list to include, but not limited to repairs and preventive maintenance on conveying systems, power transmissions, and other power driven rotating equipment. Repairs and preventive maintenance to be performed in conformance with established standards.

Requirements include:

  • Education : Possess a high school degree or an approved GED. Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or equivalent,is preferred but not required.
  • Five years experience in industrial electrical / mechanical maintenance
  • Operate and have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, and boom lifts.
  • Proper use of hand / power tools, shop math, pneumatics, power transmissions, parts nomenclature, measurements and fasteners.
  • Available to work 3rd Shift on a '4 nights on, 3 nights off' schedule

Supports Facilities Services mission to be a 'World Class' Maintenance Management organization using the latest in technology, processes and procedures. Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned as necessary: BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS: * Install or repair complex water supply lines using glued plastic, compression fittings, soldered copper tubing or threaded pipe * Assist other technicians to troubleshoot, repair or replace facility dock doors, roof leaks, concrete damage, gates, etc. * Troubleshoot, repair or replace more complex facility equipment such as turnstiles, security access gates, truck scales, etc. * Perform skill level appropriate Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks on the facility buildings and grounds equipment * Assist other technicians as assigned to troubleshoot, repair or replace building and grounds equipment or systems MECHANICAL: * Perform Preventive Maintenance tasks on major facility systems such as the stretch wrappers, palletizes etc. * Use appropriate tools, materials and methods to perform mechanical tasks in a safe and efficient manner * Troubleshoot, repair or replace compressor air ends, pumps, gear boxes and all major components on facility support equipment * Troubleshoot, repair or replace major components on all facility production equipment such as cranes, conveyors, diverters, AS/RS storage and retrieval machines, palletizers, automated stretch wrappers and other plant equipment. * Assist and train lower level techs when troubleshooting and repairing dock levelers, restraints and other plant and production equipment * Perform skill level appropriate PM tasks on facility mechanical equipment * Assist higher level technicians while installing, troubleshooting and repairing any facility mechanical equipment or systems HYDRAULICS AND PNEUMATICS: * Perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks on compactor units, air compressors, hydraulic or pneumatic driven equipment, battery changing machines, and hydraulic power packs * Perform pump down, pressure discharge and isolation procedures to make systems safe before performing maintenance activities * Troubleshoot, repair or replace major components on facility equipment such as hydraulic power packs, air compressor systems, battery changers, cranes, elevators and compactors * Assist higher level technician in troubleshooting and repairing more complex hydraulic or pneumatic system failures * Train and assist lower level technicians in troubleshooting and repairing less complex equipment components * Perform skill level appropriate PM tasks on hydraulic and pneumatic power systems and facility operating equipment HEATING, AIR CONDITIONING AND VENTILATION: * Evaluate systems for proper operation and efficiency using manifold gauges, thermometers and manometers, etc. * Use refrigerant recovery system and manifold gauges when evacuating and charging an HVAC or chiller system * Assist higher level technician when troubleshooting, repairing or installing package HVAC or chiller system major components * Train and assist lower level technicians when repairing HVAC equipment and water chillers * Perform assigned PM tasks on HVAC equipment and water chiller FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEMS: * Demonstrate knowledge of Preaction Systems and Radionics alarm panels and associated system components * Perform skill level appropriate PM tasks on a wet or dry fire suppression system * Replace damaged sprinkler system components including audio/visual (AV) devices, pull stations switching devices, pumps, etc. * Assist in troubleshooting and repairing problems with facility fire suppression system, including pump controls, alarm panels and tamper switches. ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC: * Troubleshoot and repair facility power distributionsystems including distribution panels, motor control centers and equipment power panels * Troubleshoot and repair facility main power systems including main breakers, power transformers, fuses, ground fault systems (GFI), phase failure systems and current transformers (CT's) in 480 volt systems * Troubleshoot, repair and replace various types of lighting fixtures and power supplies * Troubleshoot, repair and replace components in facility power distribution panels, motor control centers and equipment power panels * Assist higher level technicians in troubleshooting and repairing facility main power systems including main breakers, power transformers, fuses, ground fault systems (GFI), phase failure systems and current transformers (CT's) in 480 volt systems * Identify and repair moderately complex electrical problems with production equipment electrical systems, including PLC and computer control systems, variable frequency drives (VFD's), motor controls and other electrical and electronic devices * Install new 120volt and 277volt circuits to power equipment including wall switches, appliances, light fixtures, small motors, breakers, disconnects, GFI protection etc * Train and assist lower level technicians to perform electrical maintenance tasks * Perform skill level appropriate PM tasks and assist others doing Predictive Maintenance (PdM) tasks on electrical systems * Troubleshoot PLC networks and associated systems and equipment - including proximity switches, scales, photo eyes, power supplies and IO cards. * Use understanding of complex control sequences to identify problems and failures in the system WELDING: * Prepare equipment and materials for welding by cutting, grinding or heating as needed * Properly use metal working tools such as grinders, saws, drills, metal workers etc. when repairing facility machinery * Braze and cut metal machinery using a Oxygen and Acetylene torch * Make complex repairs to equipment and facilities using electric arc stick, MIG, TIG, Plasma or oxygen/acetylene equipment * Assist higher level technicians when making more complex repairs or fabrication requiring metal working and welding * Train and assist lower level technicians when making more complex repairs or fabrication that requires metal working and welding ADMINISTRATIVE: * Stay informed by attending team meetings, reading bulletin boards and technical bulletins * Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to work order (WO) completion * Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to parts requisitions (Req's) completion * Complete accident or incident reports per company policy Preferred Education and Experience * High School Diploma * 4-6 years of experience in Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Welding, Hydraulic/Pneumatic systems, Construction Trades or Air Conditioning Maintenance Preferred Key Competencies * Willingly offers help or assistance to others when needed. * Applies accurate logic and common sense in making decisions. * Seeks out opportunities for learning and self-development * Seeks out opportunities to learn about new ideas, methods, and technologies. * Is respectful and honest with Partners, customers and vendors * Remains calm and reasonable in tense or stressful situations. * Focuses on appropriate details so work gets done accurately, completely and timely * Effective written / verbal communication and presentation skills * Strong organization and time management skills with ability to multi-task and attention to detail * Demonstrate initiative Physical and Other Requirements * Lift 20 lbs. or more on an occasional basis * Standing, stooping, walking, bending and climbing. * Ability to work in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 130 degrees. * Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs. * Must be able to work standing, sitting, stooping, bending, or in a prone position. * Must be able to work with hands over head. * Must H-E-B San Marcos TX
