Position Summary

Under general supervision, perform journey-level work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel, and repair of mechanical electrical equipment and fixtures; and perform all other related work as required. This position is required to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace and test electrical systems; assemble, install, and repair wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, fixtures, etc. using hand tools and power tools. Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations; inspect related work performed by contractors; estimate cost, time, and materials for electrical projects; participate in the maintenance and operations of an electrical shop; clean, maintain and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK. SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION. OPTIONAL GUIDELINES: EXPERIENCE IN THE TRADE AREA RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR-FOR-YEAR BASIS.
