Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications Position Summary

This is skilled technical work involving operating, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing building electrical systems and components to include electrical components in other building systems (HVAC, communications, security, plumbing, lighting, etc.) due to new construction or renovations

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits.

  • Understand electric circuit diagrams, blueprints, and equipment manuals and use same to troubleshoot system problems, make repairs, and install new components.

  • Use electric diagnostic test equipment and tools of the electrical trade.

  • Understand and apply standard trade practices in performing work.

Physical Demands

  • Standard requirements of the trade: walking, standing, stooping, crawling, standard and/or ladder and scaffold work, lifting up to 75lbs.

  • Most work performed in building

  • Driving to perform job related duties

Repair or replace building electrical system components.

Percentage of time 35 Duties/Responsibilities

Troubleshoot problems with building electrical systems and related components.

Percentage of time 30 Duties/Responsibilities

Install components and associated wiring to building electrical system to expand capability of existing system or for building renovations.

Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities

Prepares work related documents (work orders, vouchers, reports, purchase requests, etc.) and interacts with customers via phone and in person to coordinate work.

Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities

Other duties as required and assigned by supervisor.
