Dominion Generation is seeking qualified applicants for an Electrician Trainee position at our North Anna Power Station.
This entry level position:
Inspects, tests, troubleshoots and repairs electrical circuits and electronic equipment under the guidance and direction of an experienced electrician or supervisor.
Performs standardized duties and tasks using hand tools and testing instruments.
Isolates defects in wiring, switches, monitors and other electrical equipment using testing instrument such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter etc.
Replaces faulty switches, sockets and other elements of electrical systems.
May dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective parts and related fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.
Additional duties include:
Works under direct supervision and follows standard procedures and instructions to accomplish assigned tasks.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Respects and works safely around power plant equipment to safeguard personnel and equipment.
Maintains a neat, clean shop and work area to enhance the working environment.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
Overtime, planned and emergency, is required.
Schedules require supporting nightshifts and weekends.
Individual will be part of the emergency response organization and some travel (for periods of up to a month or more) will be required to support other station outages.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Basic Qualifications (required):
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of AC and DC circuitry as well as equipment grounding requirements.
Demonstrated use of electrical repair procedures and blueprint circuit understanding.
Good oral communication skills.
Applies basic skills and works on developing advance skills using tools and equipment.
Ability to resolve routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to more experienced personnel.
Ability to follow standard written and oral instruction.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year of electrical or electronics work experience in an industrial setting
Experience working with basic hand tools, associated rigging equipment, and various electrical test equipment
Nuclear power station experience
Journeyman Electrician license
Electrical trade school or relevant military experience
Basic computer skills, including keyboarding skills
Required: High School diploma or GED
