Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review of specifications and drawings.

  • A field QA inspector must be knowledgeable in all industrial electrical activity and documentation

  • Producing and tracking of all documentation from the beginning of a job to the end.

  • The field Quality Assurance personnel reports to the QAM. They, on a daily basis in the field answer to the Field Project Manager or his designee. When a disagreement occurs with other departments and a QA inspector, he is to contact the QAM to assist in coming to a resolution.

  • A QA Inspector must be proficient in all items on the attached Field QA checklist. He must be able to assess all field QA needs based on the customers purchase order, customer specification, The Roberts Company drawings, and The Roberts Company specifications.

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to purchase order, specifications and required Codes such as API, ASME, etc.

  • Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, micrometers and lasers.

  • Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required.

  • Record and compile extensive inspection or test data, such as temperatures, material grades, pressure test results, moisture content, qualified welder list to name a few.

  • Be able to set up and maintain a good relationship with the Customer and its inspectors, Third party inspectors and the Authorized Inspector.

  • Accept or reject products, materials, or equipment not meeting specifications.

  • Write test or inspection reports describing results, recommendations, or needed repairs.

  • See colors such a red and green. (Eye exam for color blindness)

  • Maintain regular attendance and timeliness on a consistent basis.

  • Be willing to go to training such as UT training, CWI (certified welding Inspector), Boroscope training, etc.

  • Conduct business and interactions with a positive attitude that projects a high level of professionalism.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Be willing to travel as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Five year minimum experience working within the quality inspection industry.

Certifications such as CWI, UT level II, RT level II, LPT Level II a plus but not required.

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

  • Climb ladders, platforms, stairs.

  • Work in confined areas such as inside tanks or other vessels.

  • Work from a man lift at various heights.

  • Work at various heights.

  • Work in an industrial atmosphere that will involve noise, cranes, welding, grinding, moving of heavy equipment, etc.

  • Maintain balance working on cylindrical or angular shaped fabrications.

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Possibly work in extreme weather conditions. Indoor and outdoor work. Shop fabrication areas and field industrial sites that may involve climbing stairs, ladders and vessels.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to multi-task on a large scale level is critical.
