ELECTRICIAN, OFFSHORE - TEMPORARY POSITION

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot, repair and replace defective parts in electrical fixtures

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic devices

  • Perform preventative repair and maintenance of field, plant, and shop electronic and electrical systems, devices, equipment and components

  • Install enhancements and major upgrades to offshore vessel electrical systems

  • Perform work from instructions using blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics

  • Test electrical circuits to ensure their operability

  • Install electrical components to architectural and code specifications

  • Test wiring connections with test equipment like volt/ohmmeters, and oscilloscopes

  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

  • Support general offshore operations as required.

POSITION DETAILS:

This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

  • LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months
  • LOCATION: Brownsville, TX with extensive travel - up to 80%
  • SHIFT: 1st, must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

  • Journeyman electrician license

  • Experience working with electrical systems on an offshore vessel

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns

  • Experience with SpaceX electrical systems

  • Master electrician license

  • Able to identify and implement efficient paths of action to finish the assigned work

  • Ability to test, calibrate, diagnose, and repair various devices

  • Ability to use a variety of electrician's hand tools as well as measuring and testing instruments

  • Demonstrable knowledge and/or understanding of codes, rules, regulations and standards of electrical equipment

  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and reports

  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments

  • Experience with both high voltage power and low voltage controls

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Schedule varies depending on site operational needs and flexibility required

  • Willing to travel up to 80%

  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small opening and climbing hand over hand, lifting 25 lbs., and working on ladders/lifts at elevated heights

  • Ability to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise

  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

LAUNCH PAD TECHNICIAN - TEMPORARY (2ND SHIFT) RESPONSIBILITIES: * Fabricate and install fluid system components from a schematic or engineering drawing, including but not limited to: * Ball valves * Check valves * Pressure regulators * Pressure gauges * Troubleshoot operational issues found during activation of fluid and mechanical systems * Operate heavy machinery including forklifts and aerial platforms * Work with a team of technician and engineers to ensure every system is built with the highest level of quality to support 100% successful launch of a multi-million dollar launch vehicle * Provide daily support to the launch fluids team * Assist other technicians during launches with vehicle roll out, launch procedures, and post launch securing * Assist fluids technicians during post launch pad refurbishments and modifications POSITION DETAILS: This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate. * LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 Months * LOCATION: Brownsville, TX * SHIFT: 2nd (5:00 PM - 5:00 AM), Alternate Work Schedule: 3 days on, 4 days off then 4 days on, 3 days off BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalency certificate * 1+ years of professional experience using power tools PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: * Associate degree in aerospace technology or equivalent area of study * Experience working at a rocket launch facility and supporting launch campaigns * Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex fluid and mechanical systems * Experience maintaining a propulsion test stand in the aerospace industry * Military aviation experience as a propulsion or airframe technician * Experience with orbital or structural welding * Machining and metal fabrication experience * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office ( Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) * Experience with mechanical repairs and troubleshooting * Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic system fabrication * SpaceTEC certification * Experience with engine and transmission rebuilds * Familiarity with calibrated measuring instruments * Experience using heavy equipment, including but not limited to, overhead cranes, forklifts and manlifts * Commercial Driver's license (CDL) * Experience with car, truck and heavy industrial preventative maintenance * Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings, and instructions ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * This role requires working from 5 PM - 5 AM; 3 days on, 4 days off, then 4 days on, 3 days off * Flight hardware is typically built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required * Ability to work at elevated heights (up to 300ft) * Periodic work in extreme outdoor environments: heat, cold, wind, rain * Work hours depend on site priorities and may require extended hours; flexibility required ITAR REQUIREMENTS: * To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
