Position Summary
Perform skilled electrical work in the construction, installation, alteration, preventive and corrective maintenance and repair of varied commercial lighting, power and electrical distribution systems and equipment at Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) International Airport and associated facilities. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of medium voltage switch-gear and transformers; maintenance of airfield lighting, signage and NAVAIDS; and other tasks as assigned. This position may also perform duties at the reliever airports.

3:30 p.m.
2:30 p.m.
11:00 p.m.
Premiums:
Second shift = $1.50 per hour.
Third shift = $1.80 per hour
Hourly Rates:
As of May 1, 2023: $53.394/hour
As of May 1, 2024: $55.530/hour

Accountabilities and Functions
Maintenance and Repair of Electrical Systems and Equipment
Listed below are some examples of systems and equipment to operate,maintain and repair (this list is not inclusive)
Perform maintenance and repair of lighting for roadways, parking facilities, signage, interior and exterior lighting for buildings
Maintain and repairramp, airport beacon andairfield lighting
Maintain and repair medium voltage switch gear, field lighting regulators, standby generators, transformers, motor control systems, and motors on all types of equipment
Perform diagnostics and repairs on wiring and control problems on equipment due to insulation breakdown, short circuits, broken parts, burned parts, worn parts, etc.
Replace wiring, ballasts, transformers, sockets, lamps, coils, contacts, switches, receptacles, bearings, etc.
Service and repair security gates
Initiate preventive maintenance on equipment by cleaning, oiling, greasing and replacement of parts
Perform locating services for any excavation on airport property as directed
Perform diagnostics and repairs underground cabling and equipment
Perform work from work orders, oral instructions, sketches, schematics, etc.
Install wiring and devices on building remodeling projects and equipment replacement
Repair and install VFD's, meters and other systems and equipment
Maintain and repair secured card access systems; fire alarm systems;and UPS systems
Miscellaneous Duties
Follow safety and security policies, procedures, and directives
Operate stand-by and portable generators, and portable pumps
Operate aerial lifts in excess of 85 feet
Climb ladders and scaffolds with no height restrictions to perform assignments
Work in confined spaces
Operate computerized systems associated with airfield lighting, generators, and facility monitoring systems
Obtain and maintain MAC required licenses and certifications
Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
Possession of a valid MN Class A Journeyman Electricians License
Possession of a Commercial driver's license permit within 60 days of hire and the ability to obtain a CDL within one year of appointment
Possession of or agree to obtain a complete set of basic electrician tools by date of hire
Basic proficiency with web browsers, email, and word processing
Ability to work outdoors in severe and varied weather conditions
Ability to lift, position, carry and pull 50 pounds
Ability to work overtime and call backs, both scheduled and unscheduled, for all shifts as required including weekends and holidays
Ability to travel in and out-of-state for training on particular systems, as required
Desirable Requirements
Recent professional experience working at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and/or surrounding campus
Experience maintainingHVAC control systems
Experience with airfield lighting systems and radio controlled remote systems
Experience in repairing, altering and maintaining fire alarm and secured card access systems
Previous experience working in a campus or commercial facility environment that has multiple buildings or locations
Possession of a valid Class A Master Electrician license
Previous experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
Previous experience with medium voltage (13,800 volts)

Safe driving habits are critical for individuals employed in MAC occupations that require extensive driving of equipment on the aircraft operating area. As a result, external applicants for the Airport Maintenance Worker position must meet the MAC's standard of safe driving in order to be hired.
Acontingent offer of employment shall be withdrawn if the motor vehicle record contains:
1.Three (3) or more minor moving violations within the last three (3) years from date of offer. Minor violations include, but not limited to:
Failure to wear a seat belt
Speeding
Failure to stop at a stop sign
Failure to yield
2.Any major violation within the past three (3) years from date of offer including, but not limited to:
Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs
Open bottle or allowing open bottle
Failure to stop/report an accident
Violations as a result of an accident
Reckless driving/speeding contest
Making a false accident report
Homicide, manslaughter or assault arising out of the use of a vehicle
Driving while license is suspended/revoked
Careless driving
Attempting to elude a police officer
Excessive speed
Any pending criminal matter for a serious traffic offense will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Felony: A crime for which a sentence of imprisonment for more than one year and a fine of more than $3,000 may be imposed. (Examples: criminal vehicular operations resulting in injury or death, fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle resulting in an injury or death.)
Gross Misdemeanor: Any crime which is not a felony or misdemeanor, the maximum fine for which is $3,000.00, and imprisonment for up to one year. (Examples: fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, subsequent DWI violations within five and ten years.)
Misdemeanor: A crime for which a sentence of not more than 90 days or a fine of $1,000.00, or both, may be imposed. (Examples: Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Driving After Suspension/Driving After Revocation (DAS/DAR), reckless/careless driving, no insurance, open bottle, parking in a handicapped area, third moving violation in a year, petty misdemeanor violations with enhancements.)
Petty Misdemeanor: A petty offense which is prohibited by statute, which does not constitute a crime, for which a fine of not more than $100.00 may be imposed, unless the violation was originally a misdemeanor, whereupon the fine may not exceed $200.00. (Examples: speeding, failing to stop at a stop sign, failure to yield.)
