Electronic Systems (ES) is one of four L3 business segments, and provides a broad range of components, products, subsystems, systems and related services for military and commercial customers. We are searching for an Electrician at our Power Management- Portsmouth VA. location.
The candidate must have a Confidential DoD clearance at time of hire.
Electrician must possess knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to install, modify, fabricate, and repair ships electrical, control, and instrumentation systems. Typical work that the Electrician might be asked to perform: 1.
Lay out work from written and oral instructions. Utilize appropriate trade methods and processes to complete assigned tasks. Install wireways, cable racks, and associated cabling to interconnect ships power, communications, lighting, fire control, instrumentation and other electrical systems.
Install cabinets, enclosures, controllers' consoles and other electrical equipment as integral parts of ship systems. 2. Repair or replace damaged electrical components/assemblies. Troubleshoot faulty systems/circuitry to identify problem areas and initiates action to commence repairs. 3.
Work with test directors to test electrical systems using blueprints, technical manuals and test procedures to ensure adequate operational performance in accordance with the specified guidelines. 4. Coordinate and arrange for the work of several trades in connection with performing work from information received from technical work documents, blueprints, specifications, written and/or oral instructions. 5. Ability to perform an Electrical Safety Frisk per NAVSEA Occupational Safety, health and Environment Control Manual for Naval Shipyards, Chapter 230 using an analog multimeter. 6.
Skilled in the use of analog multimeters for voltage verifications and resistance readings. Skilled in the use of insulation resistance meters, clamp-on ammeters and temperature meters. 7. Able to use basic hand tools as well as power tools such as grinders and drill motors.
This position is for first, second and third shifts onboard various surface and subsurface vessels at Norfolk Naval Shipyard. U.S. citizenship is required.
The successful candidate will be based in the Electronic Systems' Power Management business unit, in the Norfolk VA. area. A competitive market-based compensation package, commensurate with the responsibilities and experience requirements will be provided.

Candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years shipboard electrical experience. Must have High School/Vocational School diploma or GED Certificate and/or successful completion of a trade or industrial school. Standard maritime training, OSHA 10 hour class.
