The Plant Operations Electrician will perform all necessary functions in the operation, preventive maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment in a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to electrical systems. Demonstrate behaviors supporting Sibley Memorial Hospital's mission to deliver excellent and compassionate care every patient, every time. Within job function leverage the Lean Methodology and be a role model in innovation.

Skills and Abilities Required:
1.Ability to effectively communicate verbally (in English) and document (in written English) all daily activities associated with the safe operation and maintenance of assigned equipment.
2.Knowledge of small tools and safe handling practices associated with repair and maintenance of assigned equipment.
3.Ability to work with little or no supervision.
4.Knowledge and ability to handle any and all emergency situations and equipment breakdown, malfunction or failure.
5.Must be able to effectively reach all maintenance equipment in case of an emergency and/or for normal day-to-day maintenance and repair.
6.Must be able to read and interpret blue prints, electrical schematics, control circuits, and drawings as related to assigned areas.

Minimum Education and Experience:
1.High School graduate or G.E.D. Certificate preferred or with equivalent combination of training and experience is necessary.
2.Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the field of electricity. Prefer experience in a hospital setting.
3.Licensure: Licensed as a Journeyman Electrician by the District of Columbia.

Facilities Services is searching for a full-time Electrician to support the Electrical team to effectively investigate and identify electrical problems and develop plans to repair and maintain the electrical systems throughout the University. This position will report to the Supervisor, Electrical. More specifically, the Electrician will: Performs preventive maintenance repairs on electrical systems, lighting systems, and equipment in and around buildings. Installs wiring, electrical systems, lighting systems in and around buildings, power appliances, electrical machinery, and equipment according to written job orders. Reports to and answers to emergency call-backs. Performs other work related duties as requested. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. The Electrician may work around and/or with machine tools that present certain dangers, and all safety precautions must be followed. Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study.
