Electrician II

Position Title: Electrician II

Department/Section: Facilities

Supervisor: Team Leader and Director of Facilities

Hourly Rate: $18.52 - $19.44/hour (depending on experience)

Pay Grade: 13

Schedule: 40 hours/week, hours TBD; 12 month calendar; Benefits offered; Arizona State Retirement System

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Investigate the cause of electrical problems, and decide how to correct, and perform repairs according to policies and codes.

TYPICAL TASKS:

These examples do not include all possible tasks in this work and do not limit the assignment of related tasks in any position of this class.

  • Investigate sources of problems within various electrical appliances and systems. Searches for cause, determines problem and performs repairs by most cost effective method.

  • Install, repair, maintain and/or replace a wide variety of electrical equipment, including service panels, AC distribution systems, building lighting circuits, electrical appliances, shop equipment hot water heaters, power tools and kitchen equipment.

  • Design and perform electrical system modification and new circuit installation in existing buildings and portable classrooms according to applicable electrical codes.

  • Estimate repair on new installation costs or replacement of outdated lighting systems, determine needs and order materials, supplies and repair parts. Recommend to maintenance supervisor based on best price and quality.

  • Operate a variety of electrical testing equipment to locate and determine types of electrical malfunctions.

  • Examine fire safety equipment and decide cause of problem. Report or contact manufacturer regarding repair.

  • Operate snow plow and assist with snow removal as directed.

  • Carry on call phone for any after hour emergencies if requested to do so.

  • May perform general maintenance work orders if assigned out of electrical field.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Specific training or job experience required before appointment

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification

  • Journeyman license and three years of electrical maintenanc,

  • Installation/troubleshooting experience.

  • Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's license.

  • Maintenance personnel are subject to 24 hour emergency call.*

Duties involve reviewing, creating and processing materials and information that are confidential by federal and state laws. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Knowledge needed: * Knowledge of word processing programs, legal terminology and legal forms. * Knowledge of service of process procedures. * Extensive knowledge of Arizona Rules of Family Law Procedures including court procedures and applicable time-frames. * The principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques common to a modern law office. Skills needed: * Typing 60 wpm. * Oral and written communication * Interpersonal relationships. * Managing and handling a heavy work load under pressure with multiple deadlines. Abilities needed: * Ability to work with interruptions and adapt to changing priorities. * Ability to work as part of a team. * Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy and exercise good judgment in safeguarding sensitive and confidential information * Ability to work independently. * Ability to operate word processing programs for preparation of legal documents. * Ability to track and follow through on voluminous court actions in various states. * Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records. * Ability to organize, prioritize and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.
