Job Description

  • Maintains high level of mail processing equipment up time through knowledge of products and customer requirements.

  • Install, modify, repair, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and load new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.

  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of the operation and installation of a variety of complete electrical systems and equipment, such as series, parallel, and compound circuits for single and multiple phase alternating current of varying voltage, amperage, and frequency; wiring systems in industrial complexes and in buildings; and power or regulating and control circuits and distribution panels to industrial machinery, computers or laboratory and other electrical equipment.

  • Greater knowledge and understanding about how various circuits, equipment, and controls operate, fit, and work together.

  • Must have knowledge of the various gauges, sizes, and types of wire, conduit, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers, and other electrical devices, and the ability to arrange and install them in ways that insure proper and safe operation of electrical systems and equipment.

  • Ability to interpret and apply the National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, and to use trade formulas to calculate common properties, e.g., voltage, voltage drop and current capability in series and parallel circuits, resistance, inductance, capacitance, power factor, current flow, and temperature, and length in single and multiple raceways, conduits, gutters, and cable trays.

  • Must have skill in the use of hand tools and power tools and a wide variety of test equipment.

  • Specialization in electro mechanics, electronics and computer hardware/software

  • Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment knowledge

  • Familiar with programmable controls, numeral controls, power supplies, drives, guages and test equipment

  • Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment according to OSHA standards

  • Preventative maintenance

  • PC literacy including working knowledge of MS Office suite required

  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and peripheral device problems

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, charts, service manuals and parts diagrams required

  • Strong oral and written communication and organization skills

  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and observation skills

  • Ability to adapt to changing environment in the areas of products and technology

  • Have flexibility regarding work hours during certain times of the year

  • Ability to transport/lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years in print, insertion, bindery, sorting and mail equipment. Pitney Bowes or Bell & Howell preferred.

  • Associates degree or trade school in machine maintenance, electro mechanical or related field

We would love to talk to you about this fantastic opportunity. The Maintenance Technician performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of the hospital complex. Duties include repair and installation of plumbing fixtures, cleaning of drain lines, repairs and maintenance of machinery and mechanical equipment. The General Maintenance Technician also performs minor electrical repairs and completes documentation as required. * Participates in hospital or departmental performance improvement activities, and seeks opportunities to improve department and inter-department processes. * Perform special assignments as needed/requested. * Serves as a resource to department staff, students, volunteers and other departments, and contributes to the teamwork essential to ensuring quality patient care. * Takes appropriate measures to ensure safety of staff and patients. * Performs routine preventative maintenance, lubrication, cleaning of HVAC. * Inspects equipment while in operation and makes minor repairs and/or adjustments when necessary. * Inspects the equipment and operations to insure that efficient operation in maintained. * Checks HVAC's observing meters, gauges, adjusting valves and other controls to regulate flow, velocity and air volume. * Checks mechanical equipment, such as compressors, pumps, steam boilers, during preventative maintenance service. * Repair and/or replace vacuum, oxygen, airlines and compressors. * Repairs and installs plumbing fixtures such as: sinks, toilets, valves, faucets, water heater, hot and cold water piping, sewer piping and steam piping. * Inspects and tests electrical power circuits and equipment; examines and tests elements of systems, such as distribution panels, controls, circuit breakers and motors in order to locate obvious faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires or loose connections. * Repair and/or replace all mechanical or electrical components as necessary and complete documentation. * Complete all necessary information for equipment inclusion and history. * Perform a variety of general maintenance duties in and around the buildings of the hospital complex and to assist other associates in completing their tasks. * Runs emergency power generator on full load to ensure proper operation in case of emergency. * Any other responsibilities designated by the Facilities Department Leadership. * Prefer five years general maintenance experience and/or three years in a particular trade, i.e. electrical, plumbing, painting, HVAC, refrigeration plant/boiler operation. * Must possess a knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of non-patient hospital equipment repairs and general knowledge of grounds care and maintenance. * Prefer five years general maintenance experience and/or three years in a particular trade, i.e. electrical, plumbing, painting, HVAC, refrigeration plant/boiler operation. * Must possess a knowledge of troubleshooting and repair of non-patient hospital equipment repairs and general knowledge of grounds care and maintenance.
