The Night Shift Electrician will perform electrical repairs throughout the building and on all machines as well as assist Maintenance with the installation of electrical wires of new equipment. In addition, this role will assist external contractors and repair PLC's as needed. Electricians will complete other work, projects, and troubleshooting as assigned. All employees must follow all of Graphic Packaging International's safety procedures and policies.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

Electronic repairs: Perform electronic repairs throughout the building and on all machines. Receive notification of needed repair from any department. Evaluate and prioritize repair work. Retrieve parts from Parts Room as needed; complete a Withdraw Form for all parts taken. Repairs may include installation of machines, heaters, etc.

Programmable Logic Control (PLC) repairs: When notified by Maintenance of needed repair, use experience and machine knowledge to determine cause of problem. Use laptop to scan various areas of PLC as needed to detect problem. Analyze and troubleshoot PLC controls. Make programming changes in control ladder logic. Make necessary repairs.

Support electrical construction and installations projects: Support electrical construction projects, wiring and equipment installations, and other small projects as assigned. Follow specifications of new equipment to make the necessary electrical wires. Install all new wires by using volt meters, amp meters, etc. Test run the machine to verify proper wire installation. Assist Maintenance during startup of machine.

Assist Electrical Contractors: Assist Electrical Contractors with installations and/ or troubleshooting of equipment as directed by a Shift Manager.

Other Duties as Assigned

MINUMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must complete written and hands-on electrician testing. Based on scoring assessment, candidate may be selected for the position. Testing will be provided and may include offsite testing.

• Completion of forklift (PIT), aerial lift and boom lift training is required; training to be provided

• Work requires finger dexterity, close work, good color vision and good vision

• Must be able to work 7pm-7am on a 2-2-3 schedule

HIGHLY DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of installation & application of drives, drive motors and PLC controls.

• Knowledge of support equipment operation including, but not limited to, air compressors, air dryers, chillers and vacuum pumps.

• Knowledge of production equipment operation including, but not limited to, cup formers, lid lines, blankers, slitters, folding carton machines, single wraps, presses, etc.

• Electrical knowledge and experience working with AC/DC low voltage to 480/3 phase voltage, high voltage transformers and electrical switchgears.

• Electrical knowledge and experience of sizing involved with electrical construction, local/national electrical codes and associated wire and conduit.

• Ability to read and modify complex electrical schematics, blueprints, and operating manuals.

• Ability to use vendor software for trouble-shooting various PLC controls, drives and drive motors

• Computer skills (Microsoft Office applications and vendor software such as Allen-Bradley, GE Fanuc)

• Able to work independently on electrical construction and installations projects

• Strong communication skills and the ability to be flexible as needed while maintaining dedication to required tasks

The Electrician role starts at $32.25 an hour with pay increases every 6 months. For the night shift, there is a $1/hr night shift premium.
