The Electrician Apprentice assists Licensed electricians in repairs, and provide general care for all electrical systems, circuits, and components. Assists in installs, maintains, and repairs fixtures and devices. Works is performed under direct supervision and is reviewed in progress and upon completion. Upon successful completion of program, Electrician Apprentice will be eligible for Licensed Electrician position.
Essential Functions: -- Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists, supports, and participates in electrical activities while in training and working with an Electrician-Journeyman in installation, alterations, maintenance, and repair of wiring systems, switch panels, flood lights, ornamental lights, and other electrical fixtures.
Learn, in performance of duties, how to skillfully use electric tools and equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, and power factor meters; performs heavy lifting on a routine basis.
Applies knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and materials of electrical trade; of the National Electric Code; and of hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Reads and interprets simple diagrams and blueprints, schematics, plans, and manufacturers' specifications.
Performs preventive and predictive maintenance and maintains tools, parts, equipment and materials requirements and inventory for assigned projects.
Demonstrates a continuous effort to improve skill levels.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
A valid State driver's license is required.
Education and Experience:
ELECTRICIAN APPRENTICE:
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or G.E.D. Certificate, supplemented by one (1) year of vocational training OR one (1) year experience assisting in electrical work including installation, maintenance, diagnosing and repair of various electrical systems; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
LICENSED ELECTRICIAN:
Journeyman Electrician's Certification issued by the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board is required.
High School Diploma, High School Equivalency Diploma, or G.E.D. Certificate, AND one (1) year of vocational training PLUS five (5) years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repair; OR completion of Electrician Apprenticeship with the city of Clearwater, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Knowledge of -
