Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is an Electrician 2 position is within the Nevada Department of Transportation Head Quarters Buildings and Grounds section, located in Carson City. Electricians apply logical and systematic problem-solving skills when responding to Work Orders, performing and/or implementing Preventive Maintenance work and estimating cost of repairs and new construction. Incumbent must be able to read, correct, and maintain blueprints. Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for standby emergency status and in support of day-today operations. Applicants will also be required to provide during and afterhours snow removal support with needed. Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status.
Special Requirements Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
