Our Metro Detroit non automotive client is looking for an electrical systems designer who can design an industrial mining trucks' entire electrical system using Autocad 14. Our client needs someone who is not only proficient/ book smart in Autcad but also is hands on and knows how and why the system works. More details are below.


  • Work with an international team on the design, development, manufacturing support and assembly instructions of a diesel-electric mining haul trucks with a 330 ton payload capacity.

  • Responsibilities include creating electrical schematics for each of the electrical systems and integrating new, innovative cost-effective and complex design into the electrical system.

  • Responsible for designing wire harnesses

  • Work with software Team Leader to specify and develop control system architecture for large mining trucks and all electrical devices such as controllers, sensors, actuators and software architecture.

  • Work with team members to identify and develop electro-hydraulic and electro-pneumatic control systems

  • Compiles and analyzes operational, testing and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified structures or systems.

  • Creates supporting documentation for use in future manual development, including operator, service and repair, and parts manuals.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks including creating of drawings and modeling of schematics and harnesses. AutoCAD and SolidWorks 2017.

  • Maintain the documentation system for software or component application that supports records for further development, and operation and field maintenance and corresponding manuals development.

  • Ability to interface and communicate with other departments and field personnel within the company.

  • Create and maintain a documentation system that tracks software and schematic releases and organizes them for utilization for both engineering and field technicians.

  • Meet with vendors for requirements gathering on special devices development and specify HMI architecture as group leader, according to customer requirements. Evaluate vendor capabilities and negotiate/coordinate with new vendors as necessary.

Must have a valid passport and able to travel to China for 1-3 weeks for design reviews.

Degree is not necessary but a plus.

Our client's client is from mainland China so bilingual is a plus.
