Job Summary
This is a ten-month, full time faculty appointment in the Trades Division. The primary teaching assignment is for the BCTC Lexington & Georgetown campuses. The position will report to and work directly with the division Assistant Dean of Skilled Trades. The position requires flexibility of scheduling, with the ability to work days, evenings and online as needed.
The successful candidate must possess excellent computer and communication/presentation skills and will be expected to development and teach online program-related courses along with in-person laboratory experiences. Candidates will have experience working with programmable logic controllers, basic and advanced motor controls, the National Electric Code, and be motivated to learn content and methodologies for teaching other program related content. Prefer experience in Hardware, Installation, and programming of Building Control Systems. Preference also given to candidates who hold an electrical license.
Job Duties:
Along with the above expectations, this faculty position will be expected to be pro-active regarding, but not limited to, the following position responsibilities:
Classroom, online, and laboratory instruction related to Electrical Installations and Maintenance
Curriculum development participation
Student advising and career-related counseling
Active recruitment and retention activities
Department and college committee assignments
Professional development activities
Develop and maintain working relationship with local electrical industry(s)
Set example of appropriate dress and professional behavior for students
Enforce high expectations related to safety, student dress, professional behavior (including punctuality, respect for leadership, teamwork, and written/verbal communication skills)
Understand and implement workplace organization (5s) standards
Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants selected for an interview will be required to give a short (approximately 15 minutes) teaching demonstration on the topic to be determined prior to the interview.
