Position Overview

The Electrical Technician provides technical support to all areas of the plant to ensure safe and continuous operation of equipment. The Electrical Technician maintains all the equipment in the plant by showing proficiency in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing the equipment. The Electrical Technician maintains a professional relationship with all of the operational departments to ensure all communications and documentation are realized.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Safety oriented person with leadership skills to perform maintenance duties in a team environment and the ability to work alone with little or no supervision

  • Make decisions on repairs, be self motivated, look beyond the problem at hand, estimate man hours and job completion hours

  • Assisting mechanics and operators as necessary. Must be able to communicate technically, orally and written. Must have experience with industrial electrical and mechanical repairs and knowledgeable about hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment.

  • Must read electrical, architectural and mechanical diagrams, drawings or specifications to determine job requirements with ability to lay out projects and locate prints

  • Maintain and repair overhead cranes

  • Plan the layout of wiring systems

  • Maintain automated production proces

Copy and paste the following link in your browser for a 2-minute video http://bit.ly/NS_EES Engineering supervisors in the Communications and Signals department play a key role within our railroad operations team. Similar to how cars interact with traffic lights, trains operate using signals along the railway that convey movement information. Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the construction and maintenance of these signals and their related equipment. To accomplish this, a supervisor manages a team of employees across their territory that can span over 100 miles and include one or more rail yards. Additionally, supervisors ensure other electrical railroad equipment such as railroad crossing gates, train defect detectors, equipment identification systems, and other railroad equipment is installed, inspected, and maintained. A supervisor will be responsible for a team ranging from roughly 8-15 technicians to carry out this work in a 24/7 environment. The trainee program 32-weeks in length providing leadership training and technical growth opportunities to prepare trainees to assume the duties of a C&S officer upon completion of the program. Additionally, through on-the-job training, trainees will learn to speak the language of the railroad, including full knowledge of railroad signaling, and how to install, operate, and perform required inspections on our unique systems. Trainees will be expected to travel during the program, have availability outside of normal business hours, and have flexibility with their schedule to support our 24/7 operation.
