The System Engineer is part of the Thermal Management Systems development team, and primary technical interface to the customer and global technical teams. This person will coordinate system level requirements and activities amongst technical sub teams. The position responsibilities start with the project acquisition phase and end with production release of the product. Responsibilities include achievement of product related goals regarding function, quality, cost, and timing, at the respective milestones and quality gates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluates- and translates customer requirements into project specifications and milestones.

  • Coordinates development work of the system and supports timely decisions within core- and extended, technical teams.

  • Reports progress of global sub-teams and any identified risks to the core team.

  • Directly discusses technical matters with the customer and other stakeholders.

  • Initiates and adheres to company and customer change management procedures.

  • Contributes and helps maintain the system/product Design-FMEA

  • Supports PDP-team to ensure proper HW/SW functionality for prototypes and series production.

  • Coordinates electrical-, EMC and SW validation testing.

  • Evaluates pre-series parts and customer-validation-parts.

  • Supports creation, reconciliation, approval, tracking of the design verification plan (DVP)

  • Executes feasibility- and risk analysis and develops risk mitigation plans.

  • Provides input to cost-, timing-, and quality gap analysis.

  • Supports continuous improvement activities (function, quality, and cost)

  • Supports internal- and external root cause analysis.

  • Plans and coordinates system activities related to functional safety in concept and system design phase (FSC, TSC, Safety analysis, etc.)

  • Uses lab equipment for testing, debugging and circuit analysis (Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, Multimeter etc.)

  • Contributes to the generation of technical specifications.

  • Supports other business units/regions in Pre-development or product development activities.

  • Supports other business units/regions with effective communication with NA customers.

  • Responsible for product related budget inputs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Robotics, Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering combined with experience in mechatronic components is required

  • Minimum 2 years of relevent systems engineering or electrical engineering experience working in the automotive industry is required; 5+ years is preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with electronic circuits and their related components (microcontrollers, semiconductors, capacitors, etc.) is required

  • Experience with mechatronic components such as electric motors or actuators is preferred

  • Working knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, PWM) and related tools (CANape, CANalyzer, CANopen, etc.) is strongly desired

  • Experience with EMC-design practicies and EMC testing is preferred

  • Understanding of refrigerant circuits and their components is preferred

  • Proven planning abilities, including successful execution of such plans
