About the role
The Competent Person has accountability within the organization to ensure that work on electrical systems is safely performed.
Your responsibilities
Adherence to all regulations including Reckitt Electrical Standard, MIOSHA Electrical Standard, NEC, NFPA 70 & NFPA 70E
Review all site electrical projects during the design, installation, and upon completion of new construction or modifications.
Manage portable tool and equipment testing.
Issue annual electrical work permits
Coordinate inspection program for high voltage electrical equipment
Co-chair Electrical Safety Committee
Conduct incident investigations for all electrical incidents
Oversee electrical apprentice program
File electrical permits
Accompany city inspectors
Approve all tools & PPE necessary to work around hazards and manage the inspection and replacement.
Review all electrical work performed to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations
Electrical equipment inspections - multi-year, repeating project that requires significant planning and coordination.
Capital Project Review to ensure code compliance
Manage all aspects of Apprentice Program Management
Develop and actively manage a plan to ensure proactive replacement of key electrical resources
Electrical PPE Inspections
Arc Flash Program management
Teach, coach and lead others in the application of Reliability Centered Maintenance programs
Manage the Maintenance process on an ongoing basis to maintain equipment and process reliability
Facilitate teams of maintenance, engineering, and manufacturing personnel through equipment assessments, 8 Step Problem Solving, design improvements, process evaluations and problem-solving activities
Delivers creative, value-added solutions to process and or equipment problems
Develops a standard monitoring report that provides consistent information for equipment performance for both Powder and Liquid manufacturing
Coordinates technical information that defines concepts, equipment and techniques used in condition monitoring and preventative maintenance
Demonstrates a working knowledge of rotating equipment and predictive maintenance technologies (Thermal, Vibration, Ultrasound)
Tracks major equipment downtime and develops plans for enhanced performance
Determines condition levels that allow for safe operation, peak operating efficiency, maximum freedom from breakdowns and increased equipment uptime
Implement a root cause/failure analysis program to identify and eliminate failure modes
Provides resources and technical assistance to improve the troubleshooting of systems and equipment
Aligns with Continuous Improvement engineers and programs to develop consistent methodology of approach
Collaborates with project engineers to provide recommendations for equipment installations and predictive/preventative tasks that will optimize equipment reliability
Develops a culture of teamwork to effectively train technicians to increased levels of troubleshooting and RCM
Continuously reviews maintenance performance and utilizes plant metrics to identify improvement areas and projects that ensure departmental goals are achieved
Ensures all established benchmarks from metrics are met or exceeded and that Key Performance Indicators are aligned with business goals and objectives
Ensures continuity of departmental technical skill sets by determining future need based on potential attrition rate
Actively participates in safety initiatives to support overall safety program
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to position the organization for operating in a safe and reliable environment
The experience we're looking for
The resident electrical Competent Person must possess and maintain the following requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of industrial and commercial electrical work experience.
Maintain a current State of Michigan Master Electrician license or have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional highly desired
Minimum 3-5 years in Reliability Maintenance
SAP computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience
Knowledge of maintenance activities and capabilities including PdM Technologies (Thermography, Vibration Analysis, Ultrasonic Systems)
In depth knowledge of Overall Craft effectiveness
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems including high speed packaging and processing equipment
Knowledge of utility support systems
Must possess critical thinking skills and have knowledge of root cause analysis, cause and effect analysis and failure mode and effect analysis
