This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As the Electrical Power Integrity Architect you will be responsible for ensuring the electrical power system provides stable power to the loads. This includes formulating the overall design approach, performing the bus stability analysis, allocating stability-related requirements to the active components, and making sure the development team stays true to design intent.

You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Formulate the overall design approach to ensure the electrical power system provides stable power to the loads.

  • Perform the bus stability analysis, including small signal and large signal analyses across operating + fault modes; identify associated test objectives.

  • Allocate stability-related requirements to the active components; guide the development team to stay true to the design intent.

  • Support design risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.

  • Support power regulation, power generation, and energy storage trade studies, analyses, performance characterization, and specification.

  • Participate in program-level technology development, mission assurance and safety initiatives, and avionics development process improvements.

  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management; provide mentorship to peers and junior staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in development of power electronics hardware and electrical power systems.

  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, and grounding principles.

  • Expertise in DC-DC convertor topologies used in aerospace, including circuit design, analysis, simulation, test, troubleshooting, and part selection.

  • Knowledge of common communication methods, such as RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, LVDS, Ethernet, CAN, or PCIe.

  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the product lifecycle.

  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and supply to a culture of collaboration

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.

  • Basic or better knowledge of radiation effects on electronics and how to apply this to designs targeting space applications.

  • Expertise in space vehicle energy storage and power generation solutions.

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $144,278-$201,989
