Job Summary

Job Summary

Responsible for performing root-cause analysis diagnoses, as well as repairing and implementing permanent solutions to equipment failures. They ensure that all work performed is in compliance with all local and national electrical codes. This individual will also be able to modify, troubleshoot, and design logic and programming of Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLC controllers. This position is also responsible for communicating any problems or concerns with the Maintenance Supervisor. They must also inform the Maintenance Supervisor when parts are needed and maintain an inventory of the instrument/electrical/electronic parts. This position is also responsible for assisting in reviewing all pertinent electrical programs and procedures.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment problems.

  • Ability to program Allen Bradley SLC 500, 5000, with Rockwell software.

  • Be able to install, set up, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives.

  • Be able to understand PLC Ladder Logic. Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC required.

  • Perform root-cause analysis to diagnose, repair and implement permanent solutions to equipment failures.

  • Perform and direct set-up and adjustments of equipment to ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement that reduces operating costs.

  • Cleans and lubricates machinery and equipment following preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Utilizes troubleshooting skills and techniques on packaging equipment to detect malfunctions.

  • Able to read electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams.

  • Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors to diagnose problems and repairs of machine.

  • Develop and implement continuous improvement changes.

  • Understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times. Must stay focused on maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Demonstrate high levels of good housekeeping practices to promote a safe work environment.

  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Profile

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.

Job Summary Provide troubleshooting/support for electrical issues on production lines as well as facility equipment and infrastructure across the campus. Lead projects from identification phase through completion to ensure successful implementation and start-up. Manage all safety and scheduling aspects of repairs, projects, or trouble-shooting in a manufacturing environment. Conduct routine PLC program modifications through project upgrades and maintenance trouble-shooting activities. Primary Duties & Responsibilities * Must understand and demonstrate safe work practices at all times to ensure a safe work environment. * Familiarity with NEC, NEMA, NFPA, and OSHA code compliance. * Assist production areas with mechanical and electrical equipment trouble-shooting and finding root-cause for reoccurring downtime. * Provide trouble-shooting assistance for equipment PLC programs. * Modify existing PLC programs for increased efficiency and performance. * Write basic PLC programs for projects as needed. * Maintain project and equipment files including as-built drawings and spare parts documentation. * Integrate new components or systems such as instruments, controls, machines, and mechanical or electrical systems. * Plan the fabrication of panels and equipment for systems improvements. * Coordinate fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to manufacturing requirements and GMP. * Research products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software to solve operational issues and draft purchase requests. * Comply with all Company policies and procedures * Assist with off-shift maintenance activities as needed * Perform other duties as required Education and Experience Profile * Associate's degree in Electrical Technology * At least 5-7 years relevant electrical technician experience in manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience * Experience in consumer packaged goods and Lean Manufacturing Required Skills * Strong communication skills. * Capable to interpret and apply NEC, NFPA, and OSHA codes. * Familiar with 3 phase electrical power applications. * Experience with RS500 & RS5000 * Experience with basic shop equipment (drill press, band saw, chop saw, mill, etc.) * Experience running EMT and rigid conduit. * Demonstrated ability with PLC trouble shooting, interface, and basic programming skills. * Ability to be a team player and effectively collaborate and partner with different functional groups and customers. * Must be detail oriented with strong organization skills. * Demonstrated project management skills required. * Experience with computer use specifically in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD. * Must be results oriented with strong problem solving skills. * Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. * Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and prints Work Environment 90% Manufacturing/Warehouse and 10% Office Environment The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this job/classification.
