Electrical Maintenance Technician

Job Description

Duties:

  • Actively participate in a High Performance Work Team environment, sharing knowledge and skills with all other team members.

  • Supports the planning and execution of daily/weekly/and shutdown activities.

  • Actively participates in failure analysis and equipment / systems troubleshooting.

  • Identifies patterns of failures and ways to design out failures.

  • Provide routine maintenance training to team members.

  • Participates in cost effective decision making, for example, labor, parts, materials.

  • Actively participates in the design, implementation and upgrade of all reliability programs.

  • Identify and maintain critical spare inventory levels, working with stores.

  • Participates in shutdown planning and two-week planning processes, including work and parts preparation.

  • Set up and operate all types of mechanical tools which could include general machinists' tools, alignment devices.

  • Read blue prints and related technical literature as required. Fabricate jobs from blue prints and sketches.

  • Learn window-based computer systems and Kimberly Clark specific systems such as SAP, TALCM and DTR.

  • Be willing and have the mechanical aptitude to lead and execute repairs on high speed rotating equipment.

  • To work with and on occasion, lead others (operators, crafts, contractors, suppliers).

  • To be proficient in the assembly, disassembly and installation of mechanical systems and components commonly found on high speed rotating equipment.

  • To be proficient in the safe execution of rigging and large equipment transportation.

Schedule: 1st shift which will be either 6:00am-2:00pm or 7:00am-3:00pm and shift work as needed

Pay: $32.71/hr

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency

  • Must be able to work occasional overtime including nights, holidays, weekends / could also be required to work 8 - 12 hour rotating shifts

  • Read and write basic English

  • Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Candidate must be able to work on elevated work platforms, catwalks, scaffolding, etc. and enter confined spaces

  • Candidate must meet and maintain medical qualifications required by the job.

  • Must follow all site and asset safety practices and procedures and must value working safely.

  • Good problem solving and decision making skills

  • Ability to work safe in a multi-functional team environment

  • Able to handle multiple priorities

  • Solid team player interested in helping others

  • Motivated self-starter

  • Must understand predictive/preventative maintenance concepts and demonstrate willingness to learn and continue education

At least one of the following is required:

  • Related two year technical degree

  • Completed Apprenticeship

  • Equivalent military MOS

  • Minimum 5 years trade/work experience in a related manufacturing field or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 30 months work experience in a manufacturing field or equivalent

  • Experience with high speed manufacturing and converting equipment

  • Knowledge of SAP

  • Programming Rockwell PLC, VFDrives and HMI software required: RSLogix5000, RSLogix 5, Review Factory Talk (Control Logix, GuardLogix, PLC5, PanelView, Networks: EtherNet, DH+, RIO, PowerFlex and other Rockwell drives)

  • In addition to PLC knowledge, specific trade experience in general electrical maintenance, instrumentation, DCS, and low to medium voltage electrical work experience are desirable.

The candidate will have experience as an electrical technician and the ability to troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics. The candidate will be expected to lead shipboard test and troubleshooting efforts. The candidate will be expected to complete assigned tasking, even if doing so requires more time than expected. The candidate will be tasked by and report to technical leads. The candidate will be expected to provide documented status updates on a regular basis. PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead a shipboard test and troubleshooting evolution * Troubleshoot control systems with the use of system documentation and electrical schematics * Provide test support for all variants of fielded systems at LBES and shipboard * Provide shipboard software and hardware installation support of all variants of fielded systems at LBES and shipboard * Provide documented status updates on a regular basis * Act as a liaison between shipboard test team, ship's force, test team and technical leads back in Philadelphia * Maintain personal source of information between jobs and tasking * Aid in test procedure edits, development and implementation Education Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience. Qualifications Experience Required * 8 years of experience as an electrical technician * Experience tracing signals and diagnosing or isolating cause for electrical failures * Experience with grounded and ungrounded systems Technical Skillsets Required: * Understands electronic control systems and how they interface with sensors, pumps, and other mechanical and electronic equipment * Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills to include the ability to use a digital multimeter. * Advanced electrical principals to include understanding the difference between current, voltage and resistance as well as how to effectively troubleshoot circuits containing them * Ability to use an oscilloscope and signal generator * Ability to read and understand electrical schematics * Proficiency with a personal computer (PC) * Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel, Word, and Outlook) * The ability to learn new PC applications as needed * Familiarity with embedded control systems both centralized and decentralized * Reasonable problem solving ability * Attention to detail and meticulous logging of testing, troubleshooting steps, and findings Advanced Skillsets Desired: * Advanced computer skills to include use of HyperTerminal, Putty, or an equivalent serial interface * Ability to use a VME Bus analyzer * Ability to lead a shipboard test and troubleshooting evolution Miscellaneous: * Regular expected travel frequency 30-50% * Professional written and oral skills are required SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: * Successful applicants must either have an active government security clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance. * Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.
