Looking for an experienced engineer or one who possesses detailed knowledge in the area of Electrical Maintenance and Reliability Engineering who provides engineering analysis and evaluation of technical military base or industrial facilities systems and equipment, and provides the support needed to improve quality, productivity, and safety. Responsible for providing reliable and responsive Electrical Engineer support to ensure effective and efficient operations of site assets and systems at Navy Station Mayport. This includes the maintenance of all infrastructure, engineering support, fire protection and prevention services.
Establishing and driving reliability engineering principles and best work practices in accordance with the Society of Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) or equivalent.
Utilize Maximo to track maintenance activities
Develop preventive and predictive maintenance procedures
Adhere to the standards of The National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA) and National Electrical Code (NEC)
Develop procedures for major overhauls and repairs of electrical equipment i.e. 480V electrical substations, transformers, switch gear, vacuum breakers, motors, PLC's and controllers.
Test, troubleshoot and conduct root cause failure analysis on failed equipment, develop action plans to eliminate repeat failures, and implementing corrective actions
Ensure machine interface software is accurate and reliable
Manage upgrades and troubleshooting of AC and DC variable speed drives and motors, programmable logic controllers, motor controls and motor control centers.
Update and maintain plant and system electrical drawings
Testing of Transformers, relays, switchgear, power controls and distribution equipment.
Testing current transformers, potential transformers, battery systems and power line carriers for various power systems.
Maintain current knowledge for maintenance of single and three phase power systems, power system protection & control schemes, test equipment and test equipment software.
Relay maintenance calibration; and Testing and repairing substation relays and control schemes for various power systems.
Monitor all Plant high voltage power operation, including system line-up, production center requirement, and interface as necessary with all areas of the plant.
Develop and provide clear, concise switching orders for all system changes as well as provide direction for establishing electrical safe work zones for persons working near electrical hazards.
Has an understanding of short circuit, arc flash, load flow, and relay coordination studies and determine PPE requirements.
Provide 24/7 failure response (in the event of a system issue, provide immediate response through in-house and contract resources to return system to support full productivity in expedient manner).
Provide detailed analysis on all high voltage related incidents.
Lead the design, rebuild, install and commission both new and revised equipment including, but not limited to high current rectifier systems, transformers, high voltage switchgear, high voltage transmission line, and metering (voltages include 13.8kV and 480V)
Familiar with Motor Circuit Analysis testing, transformer oil analysis, electrical testing and substation maintenance requirements and can interpret oil analysis data
Understand and interpret mechanical prints, electrical prints, and pneumatic prints.
Conduct power studies to determine quality of power, capacity, and effects of adding additional equipment to existing facilities.
Conduct lighting studies to determine if light levels in existing facilities are adequate.
Determine shore power configuration and generator sizing
Determine battery and charging system requirements for DC electrical system
Determine grounding and galvanic protection requirements for AC and DC electrical systems
