Electrical Lab Aide I Intern

Physical Optics Corporation, a fast-growing high tech company specializing in advanced military, homeland security, and energy solutions is seeking an Electrical Lab Aide I Intern to support our Products and Engineering Division. This a fulltime, temporary position for up to three months.

This position will aide in acquiring engineering knowledge to provide assistance to the engineering staff with the design, development, and fabrication of electronics for prototype devices. Typical projects the candidate may work on include embedded systems, opto-electronic sensor devices, imaging and display systems, automated control systems, and wireless devices and protocols.

Experience Guidelines:

  • Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2019. Must be working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical discipline.

  • Experience with MatLab, CAD design, and MS Office programs

  • Hands on electronics skills a plus

  • Excellent communication skills, a team and goal oriented approach, and strong self-motivation

The Chemical Lab Technician will be accountable for conducting tests and preparing documentation for specialty gas cylinders. Under general supervision the Chemical Lab Technician conducts routine technical tasks in plant, field or lab and provides basic technical assistance in areas such as gas applications. Chemical Lab Technician - 2nd Shift * Performs routine analytical procedures on pure and mixed gases * Utilizes or adapts standard methods of procedure * Runs mixture calculations for routine mixtures * May create specialty gas mixtures according to customer specifications * May generate certificates of analysis for pure products and mixtures * Tests cylinders for safety and fills cylinders to required specifications following routine procedures * Coordinates electronic analytical tests to ensure gas mixtures meet customer requirements * Assists with the evaluation of all medical gases for FDA compliance before releasing for delivery to customers * Sets up and calibrates testing equipment to required standards * Ensures lab is maintained in a neat, clean and orderly condition * Performs routine maintenance on instruments, scales and pumps * Maintains data both via hard copies and electronically * Interacts effectively with other work groups * Other duties as assigned * <li>High School Diploma/GED is required * Associates Degree preferred * Industrial/Specialty Gas is preferred * Gas and Lab Test Analysis equipment experience * 2 years experience working in industrial lab environment * Must be willing and able to work 2nd Shift Praxair, Inc.
