JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:

This position will report directly to the Manager of Division Operations and Facilities.

  • Must be able to conduct project management duties including: define the scope of work, develop a cost budget, develop construction schedule and provide project implementation

  • Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures

  • Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes and National Electric Code

  • May install intercom systems or electrical control systems; connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes

  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system

  • Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors

  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools

  • Work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures

  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous

  • Direct and train workers to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures

  • Work at all Abbott sites within Franklin County using personal vehicle and tools.

  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters and test lamps

  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment

  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects

  • Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares and driving needed vehicles

Main Responsibilities:

  • Respond to machine breakdowns due to electrical malfunctions or hardware/software failure (PLC/ladder logic, hard wire)

  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks for equipment including UPS back ups, machine PMs and video jets

  • Design electrical modifications which includes researching appropriate software, submitting ECAs, making back ups of programs as needed and utilization of ladder logic

  • Install and troubleshoot new and modified equipment

  • Conduct project work/electrical upgrades and monitor contractor project work and upgrades

  • Monitor and repair facility and emergency system electrical failures

Accountability:

Errors can result in product spoilage/loss, material loss, equipment repair or replacement, downtime and overtime. An Electrician is accountable for the proper diagnosis and repair of plant electrical equipment, and for the safety of other employees while operating equipment.

This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA and Abbott/Ross regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines.

Education:

High school diploma/GED. Associates Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related education preferred.

Skills/Experience/Background:

  • Five years OJT experience in electrical machine troubleshooting; experience with computers, PLCs, reading blueprints and schematics

  • Experience with drives, I/O devices, man-machine interfaces and ladder logic (Allen Bradley and Modicon)

  • During electrical troubleshooting, an electrician must be able to track down the source of power failure (i.e. the electrician would be checking for incoming power and blown fuses, troubleshooting software in the PLC, checking sensors/photo eyes and checking sequences)

  • Good communication skills and prioritization skills are required

JOB DESCRIPTION: Major Responsibilities: * Responsible for the overall results for a single shift of a manufacturing operations line. * Coordinate activities for the shift team to ensure delivery of all key performance metrics including those in EHS, Quality, Finance, Productivity and People. * Lead efforts required delivering quality and compliance performance for the shift/ line of accountability. Initiate, manage, and make decisions which impact product quality. * Manage budget accountability for Headcount, Overtime, and direct expenses for a shift and/or line. Track, trend and continuously improve budgetary performance for direct expenses, headcount, overtime (OT), Operating Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), production (Unit/Hour, Pounds/Hour), Material Usage Variance (MUV) and Scrap and Cost Improvement Projects (CIP). * Drive OEE performance, understand the drivers, and develop and execute plans around improvement of line performance and quality metrics with support from the direct manager. Understand all key performance indicators, driving and executing plans for improvement through team engagement. * Drive a culture of engagement through the team and department.
