QED Environmental Systems, a Graco company, is the leading manufacturer of innovative environmental products. For over 30 years, QED's expertise has included pumping systems, landfill products and air strippers. QED is located in Dexter, just west of Ann Arbor, MI.

Job Purpose

To support the Electrical Engineer team with the design, build, and development of electrical components for products used in Fluid Handling systems. This internship involves providing ideas, inputs, and analysis as a project team member.

Principal Activities/Duties:

  • Participate in new product development as a member of a design team

  • Help with Root Cause Testing

  • Run tests to optimize performance

  • Lab and field testing

  • Work on cost reduction projects

  • Troubleshoot issues on existing standard products

  • Analysis of Graco and competitive products including performance and features.

  • Providing general production support for machining and/or assembly area as needed:

  • Participate in the evaluation of upgrades for machining or assembly.

  • Troubleshoot issues (quality, efficiency, etc.) on assembly line or machine.

  • Weigh in on situations that need technical assistance.

  • Participate in hands-on problem solving and resolution.

  • Report and facilitate correction of out-of-specification conditions.

  • Determining the proper processes:

  • Review and analyze standards and operation layouts and make suggestions for change.

  • Assist in the selection of and implementation of tooling and fixtures for machining and/or assembly job.

  • Participate in capital equipment justification as needed.

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of preventive and corrective actions for reducing scrap, rework and down time.

  • Research and suggest ideas for new technology.

Requirements:

  • Pursuing BS Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering

  • Knowledge of electrical circuit design

  • Knowledge of C programming language

  • Strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Good electrical/mechanical aptitude

  • Initiative to learn industry and project requirements

  • Ability to collaborate efforts with team members and work in a team environment
