Responsibilities

  • Ensure process and equipment is running at entitlement reliability targets and anticipate potential emerging issues.

  • Collaborate with Reliability Manager to understand and set priority for electrical & Instrumentation equipment/system repairs impacting reliability.

  • Provides technical expertise and oversight for site Electrical Instrumentation and Process Analyzers

  • Creates, reviews, and approves specifications for new instrumentation and analyzer installations.

  • Troubleshoot instrument and analyzer issues and implement improvements to optimize run time and reliability.

  • Lead reliability investigations for I & E equipment failures, including proper application of RCA process and corrective action plans.

  • Network with other manufacturing sites to share best practices.

  • Provides technical expertise and troubleshooting assistance to Instrument and Analyzer Technicians

  • Assists with commissioning and start-up of new equipment.

  • Participates in Capital project planning, design, and implementation.

  • Leads long term instrumentation and analyzer improvement initiatives.

  • Oversight for instrument and analyzer ITPM programs

  • Specify analyzer calibration standard composition.

  • MOC focal point

  • Work with turnaround team to specify unit outage instrumentation and analyzer job scopes.

  • Assess equipment criticality to determine spare part requirements.

  • Identify and mitigate Bad Actors

  • Able to work in an individual contributor role with minimal direction and participate in or lead teams.

  • Serves as site's Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Competent Person/Coordinator

  • Participates in Unit PHAs, assists with implementation of recommendations.

  • Lead functional testing of SIS systems

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in an Electrical & instrumentation Engineering role in Chemical Plant or Refinery

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Continuous improvement mindset: A willingness to continuously learn and improve is essential. Being proactive in identifying opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and equipment reliability enhancement is highly valued.

  • Safety: A thorough understanding of electrical safety regulations and standards is essential. This includes knowledge of electrical codes, arc flash hazards, lockout/tagout procedures, and other safety protocols.

  • Communication and collaboration: Excellent communication skills are necessary to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance technicians, engineers, and management. The ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders is also important.

  • Background working with IR, GC, TC, BTU, O2 analyzers.

  • Analyzer network and communication experience (ethernet, Modbus, OPC etc.)

  • Instrumentation and Analyzer SIS experience

  • Field experience in an industrial setting

  • Working knowledge of Tricon programming or similar; SAP Plant Maintenance Module and of VFD's
