Job Title: Electrical Hardware Display Engineer

Job Location: Sterling Heights, MI

Hourly Rate: Up to $45hr depending on experience.

Job Summary:

  • Come join our team! We currently have an exciting possible Temp-to-Perm Opportunity in Sterling Heights, MI for an Electrical Hardware Display Engineer. Must have 3+ years of experience in display technologies (LCD, OLED, LED) to work on a Military Vehicle program.

About the Role:

  • The Electrical Hardware Display Engineering role will apply engineering principles to generate designs that solve complex problems.

  • The areas of focus will include Display LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) electrical design, SRU (Shop Replaceable Unit) electrical design.

Job Description:

  • Design and Develop Electrical Components and Subsystems for display products.

  • Support concept to production H/W including requirements analysis, electronic design, debug, test, and qualification.

  • Lead design, development, and test Electronic H/W products, components, and subsystems.

  • Develop detailed circuit board specifications, LRU level specifications, ICD's, and test plans.

  • Develop circuit card assembly schematics, layout guidelines, and support CCA layout.

  • Support component selection, procurement, and oversight of prototype hardware build.

  • Support concurrent engineering reviews and trade studies.

  • Develop engineering design fixes, and coordinate solutions.

  • Perform technology research, feasibility assessments, and detailed hardware design requirements definition.

  • Develop concepts to support advanced technology initiatives, IRADS, proposals, and demonstrators.

Required:

  • Knowledge and experience in display technologies (LCD, OLED, LED) is a must.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with displays.

  • Knowledge in LCD backlight design and optical films.

  • Hands-on experience in methods and equipment used for display metrology and familiarity with display.

  • Experience with graphics/video processing FPGA implementations.

  • Experience with FPGA I/O bus designs including PCI, ethernet, CAN, USB, RS-232/422/485.

  • Experience with Xilinx SCC and trusted bus macros

  • Familiarity with Military Standards and Test Requirements.

  • Ability to use engineering development and test tools.

  • Occasional overtime, and weekend hours may be required to complete critical tasks.

  • Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.

  • Strong Multi-tasking skills.

  • This position may require the candidate to be able to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles.

  • Strong record keeping skills with commitment to tracking design changes, debug status, H/W and S/W revisions.

  • Digital Video knowledge/Video Interpolations.

  • Familiarity With video circuits & video distribution & video processing.

  • Knowledge MIL 1472 HFE requirements and man-machine interfaces.

  • Understanding Various SMPTE specs.

  • Experience with Colorspace Conversion.

  • Scaling Algorithms/Sampling Theories.

  • Simulations with Simulink in MATLAB.

  • Filtering to soften sharp edge video artifacts.

  • C Language for GUI creation/VHDL.

  • Familiarity with CPUs and GPUs along with microcontroller.

  • Head Mount Display (HMD) experience.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. Other technical degrees will be considered with relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience with Display technologies and Video Distribution Techniques preferred.

  • Prefer Xilinx ISE, EDK, Mentor Graphics Modelsim and Altera/Quartus tools experience.

  • Background in analog and digital circuit design and video/graphics interface design is preferred.

  • Background with microcontrollers, single board computers, and graphic controllers/interfaces is preferred.

  • Previous experience working on ground combat vehicles is desired.

  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required Works well in team and individually.

  • Familiarity with military standards and test requirements desired.

Note:

  • Due to the nature of the work, this role may require an on-site presence up to 80% of the time.

  • Must be able to pass ASR test (Anthropometric Size Requirement for confined space) - (Must be shorter than 6' 4", and weigh less than 260lbs)

  • Must be U.S. Citizen - "Must be able to meet ITAR requirements, including US citizenship to be considered for this role.

  • Must be capable of obtaining a clearance.
