The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Electrical Ground System Design Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama.

Position Responsibilities:

Work with customers to develop and document electronic and electrical system requirements for the SLS Exploration Upper Stage Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE). Analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface specifications. Test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements. Monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements. Support fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle. Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working on SLS program and with SLS avionics hardware and software is desirable.

  • Experience in space industry and with equivalent products is desirable.

  • Experience across a breadth of disciplines including hardware, software, systems and test is desirable.

  • Relevant experience leading similar tasks on complex support equipment and training systems, including analysis, inspection, demonstration, and testing of hardware and software, automatic test equipment, test program sets, electrical/electronic equipment, mechanical equipment, computer tools and other technologies using test plans and procedures to verify requirements.

  • Coaches and mentors personnel.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

The Mission Computers and Processors Department provides digital electronic circuit cards and electronic units which are supported from proposal through transition to production. Our systems are subject to environments ranging from the frigid, sub-zero vacuum of space, to the blistering heat of the desert floor, to the high pressures of the ocean depths. Job Description: Senior Designer or Senior Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or CCAs for Missile applications. The Senior Electrical Engineer must be experienced in all aspects of circuit card design from concept through delivery to higher level assemblies as evidenced by multiple successful design completions (including hardware designs with processors, FPGAs, memory, and industry interfaces, such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, UART). This position will function in multi-disciplined design teams across multiple projects. This person will be the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for development of one or more complex modules, CCAs or units. The position requires frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques. Candidates will be provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date. Required Skills: U.S. Citizenship is required. * Active Secret DoD security clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required) or the ability to obtain and retain one. * Minimum of 10 years Engineering design experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. * Experience in the development and design of electronic circuit designs, multi-assembly system/unit design, processor designs a plus * Experience with PCB design tasks and proven ability to use tools to design (schematic capture), analyze and simulate designs prior to hardware execution. * Experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design margin analysis and design for production.
