Title: Electrical Foreman

The Electrical Foreman reports to a General Foreman or Construction Superintendent - and is responsible for leading all electrical workers on a project site to install all DC and AC electrical equipment of a commercial solar electric installations in a safe, high quality and efficient installation manner. The Foreman is responsible for leading personnel, technical training, creating material lists, thoroughly planning the electrical work schedules, and documenting quality and safety inspections.
Our ideal Electrical Foreman will
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and protocols. Inform your supervisor if you observe yourself, co-workers, or other contractor employees in an unsafe condition or performing an unsafe act
Install all work in a professional and workman-like manner, adhering to the construction plans, construction details, and maintaining quality assurance and control in all work installed
Communicate to the General Foreman or Site Superintendent potential problems encountered during construction that would affect the schedule or require added materials to be procured
Install the AC and DC electrical sections of solar electric systems. This includes installation of all conduit racking, and conduit and wiring systems/methods above and below ground; Pad layouts; Installation of all electrical equipment; Material handling/loading; Wire pulling, dressing, and terminating; Understand DC electrical systems and configure DC strings and homeruns; Conductor/equipment testing and or troubleshooting; Temporary power; and other electrical items relevant to the NEC
Work on electrical systems (including low voltage data monitoring) up to 600VAC or 1200VDC. Work on de-energized electrical equipment only. Work on energized electrical equipment only as permitted under the approval of an Energized Electrical Work Permit.
If properly trained and authorized by REC Solar, aid in the installation of non-energized medium voltage equipment, conduit, and wire (up to 35kV) under the supervision of a trained General Foreman/Site Superintendent authorized to perform medium voltage equipment, conduit, and wire installation (up to 35kV). No commercial employee is allowed to perform medium voltage splicing or terminating unless properly trained (certified) and authorized by REC Solar
Install all work in a productive manner tracking time and quantity of material installed via Unit Reporting methods
Management of electrical productivity (track unit reporting)
Work with all hand, power, powder and hydraulic tools relating to the installation of electrical equipment
Bend multiple large conduits using hydraulic benders
Fill in timecards accurately and timely and ensure that all electrical workers do as well
Follow all company policies
Perform duties on occasion outside the scope of this job description that are necessary to ensure a successful project only if you receive proper instruction and training.
Review plan-set and fully understand all electrical aspects of project
Gain understanding, knowledge, and efficient decision making when it comes to the mechanical portion of the solar installation
Lead all electricians to install all electrical work on a medium/large project or be one of multiple Electrical Foreman on large scale commercial projects
Act as next in chain of command if General Foreman or Superintendent leave the project site
Provide clear, detailed, and accurate instructions to workers
Plan tasks thoroughly, accurately, and timely
Generate accurate material lists for field purchases
Ensure that all tools & equipment used by the electrical work-force is used properly and that employees are trained to use specific tools
Provide daily safe work instructions to work force and perform routine walks checking on workers to ensure they are working in a safe and compliant manner
Provide daily quality control inspections on work-forces daily installed material
Follow instruction of onsite General Foreman and/or Superintendent and speak up when questions arise
Willingness to obtain licenses in other states
What you'll need in order to succeed
High School Diploma or equivalent
Six years of commercial electrical experience;
You must have a certification/license in the state that you are working in that classifies you to perform commercial/industrial work (i.e.: CA = General Electrical Journeyman [GJE])
Ability to lead large group of workers, provide clear and detailed instructions, and inspect work
Ability to plan work accurately and thoroughly
Physically able to perform all tasks related to installation
Knowledge of commercial electrical and general construction
Math ability in relation to electrical calculations (NEC: de-rates, wire sizing, conduit/box fill, etc...)
Knowledge of current NEC codes. Must possess and travel with a 2014 NEC book.
Physically able to perform all tasks related to installation
Maintain a high attention to detail and quality
Work at heights and use personal protective equipment
Exposure to mechanical, electrical and/or other hazards
Must have valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, background check, and clean drug test results
OSHA 30- Preferred
CPR/FA Certified- Preferred
NABCEP cert- Preferred
Valid state Driver's license with clean MVR;
Must have clean background check and drug test.
