Metso Metals Recycling division is an engineering service organization providing engineering and site process control services to the metals recycling industry. The Electrical Field Service Technician position provides installation and commissioning support associated with ferrous and non-ferrous Capital and Engineered-To-Order (ETO) projects and will provide quality technical services to support project profitability and on-time deliverables associated with new projects/products as well as support existing Metso Recycling products/customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and develops technical competency of self and technical team by monitoring/seeking emerging product and system technologies while leveraging customer opportunities to consistently position Metso EE controls as a leader in the metals recycling industry.

  • Independently develops technical competency related to existing Metso Recycling products and supported software programs/technologies.

  • Participates in internal and external meetings to support customer project requirements. Review sales orders for accuracy, scope and schedule for all sold projects containing electrical panels, software or electrical commissioning. Analyzes customer's requirements and communicate challenges and/or issues to appropriate parties.

  • Reviews all changes in electrical engineering drawings and/or PLC programs. Engages with Engineering on scope changes in projects in preparation for installations/commissioning activity.

  • Ensures quality control/testing measures are complete prior to releasing project for shipment.

  • Consults with the team coordinator/manager for guidance, direction, and priorities.

  • Reviews commissioning and installation reports for completeness and accuracy.

  • Travel (domestic and international) may be required. (up to 70%)

  • Performs direct systems programming when required.

  • Consults with EE/ME teams and PM to develop and improve product line.

  • Performs other miscellaneous duties and/or other special projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or electronic fields preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in industrial automation and electrical design with prior experience in PLC troubleshooting is required.

  • Allen Bradley PLC/HMI programming and drafting software experience. AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical is preferred. Programming in Siemens PLC/HMI a plus.

  • Working knowledge of, or experience in configuring/working with VPN modules and networks.

  • Experience with AC (both wound rotor and cage) and DC motor designs and applications, specifically related to the recycling industry required.

  • Working knowledge of drives, both low and medium voltage, AC and DC, required.

  • Familiarity with piping and instrumentation diagram for hydraulics.
