Role Summary:

This position has the responsibility to test and provide release recommendation to the defined functions (both electrical and customer) for the electric vehicles (focus on the high voltage system especially) sold in the North American market. This will be achieved by static testing using test boards and simulators as well as full functional in-vehicle testing in the field. Responsibility includes conducting the test catalog as defined by VWAG and the documentation of the results to be reviewed within colleagues in R&D Wolfsburg, and support locally the necessary improvement and change for the application for the North American region. Also coordinate with different technical dept. to support the development, application and release of the electrical vehicle for North American region.

Role Responsibilities:

Field Test Coordination - (40%)

  • Identifies, confirms, and maintains a database of test routes for field drives based on destination and/or test features.

  • Organizes test plans (static and dynamic) and coordinates with the interested participants.

  • Executes all phases of the test phase from planning, vehicle preparation, test execution, results documentation and follow up.

Error Resolution - (30%)

  • Provides documentation (failure report, vehicle protocol, network traces) on electrical communication errors during production in Chattanooga or during the launch phase of vehicles in the field.

  • Uploads the documentation to the central database and follows up directly with responsible engineers for resolution.

  • Provide local support for necessary improvement/change regarding to the electrical vehicle application(HV system especially) for North American region and keep on seeking optimization in term of quality/performance/cost with the support from R&D Germany

Test Vehicle and Bench Maintenance - (15%)

  • Maintains a fleet of test vehicles with the latest software and hardware levels.

  • Maintains test benches and simulators with the latest levels and preparation for the testing activities.

Electrical Vehicle overall technical coordination- (15%)

Coordinate with different dept. in R&D to ensure all the electrical vehicle technical target be verified and fulfilled, keep on seeking for the optimization in term of quality/performance/cost for EV sold North American region.

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:

  • 5 years of experience with electrical vehicle electronic system testing and integration

Education

  • Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Education

  • Desired:
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering

Skills:

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic

  • Highly organized and good time management

  • Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written

  • Computer savvy - skilled in the use of software

  • German and/or Spanish skills written and verbal are advantageous

  • Required:
  • Experience on the vehicle road test and failure analysis.

  • Experience with automotive control module testing failure analysis in development phase.

  • Experience on electrical car whole vehicle integration development, technical evaluation and testing

Specialized Skills

  • Desired:
  • Experience with automotive control modules development and performance verification

  • Experience testing/releasing full vehicle electrical systems (module and functional testing)

  • Experience with electric vehicle system architectures development and testing (vehicle level function and performance)

  • Understands vehicle communication networks and be able to capture the relevant data on the bus

Work Flexibility:

  • Frequently traveling to the suppliers and the R&D department in Wolfsburg, Germany

  • Increased extended travel to Germany during the initial phase of the work

  • Be able to work under the relative high voltage environment(<1000V DC)
